Guest guest
Hi - I have not had to deal with the low blood sugers with Laikyn but it does not sound fun! You are doing such a winderful job with Ian. I wish I had as much will power as you do. Hang in there and things will turn out right for you guys! Enjoy your sunny day, it's 23 degrees here!! Guest guest
Ian as you know had blood sugars of 67 before dinner. Ate great for dinner and his blood sugars were 109 before bed. Ian woke up this morning with blood sugars of 66! He drank some ginger ale (out of apple juice - go figure) refused his cheerios with milk and is currently eating Cheese Puffs (takes after his mom <grin>). His mood is fine (now that he's nibbling). He had a temperature last night of 99.3 - but, no raised temperature this morning. I suppose I will give it one more day today. If he eats well at lunch and/or dinner and his sugars are stable through the day - I won't worry. But, if he doesn't do well today - I will bring him in tonight to get him an IV and get his blood sugars stablized through the weekend. He's EATING - just not enough. He has an appetite and sais he's hungry - but, doesn't eat much. I'm waiting for his morning bowel movement and a ketone check. Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated. Jodi R. - thanks for talking with me this morning via e-mail. I really appreciate your support. Did you mention you are doing laundry already this morning? I guess I should get moving - eh? LOL It's supposed to be 80 degrees today - so, I'm hoping we can play outside at the park today. - H
Guest guest
Hey , Have you tried waking Ian, before you go to bed, and giving him some of his supplement during the night??? I think I remember you saying that he detects anything like cornstarch in his drinks, but maybe a little when he's half asleep?? If he won't drink out of a cup, or bottle, then maybe you could try a syringe in his cheek??? This might hold his BS until morning. Just a thought..... Guest guest
Great idea. Tried that - he won't take much of anything. I'll try the syringe idea though. Thanks! - H > > Hey , > > Have you tried waking Ian, before you go to bed, and giving him some of his > supplement during the night??? Guest guest
I won't even hazard a comment on the b/s part but I do know this, a temp. of 99-100 in the evening is actually considered normal. Kids tend to get warmer in the evening. Try for a few nights and you'll see that it is always slightly higher than the normal temp. Guest guest
Deb - wow - I didn't know that ! Thank you! Well, that's good to know. He's been complaining of headaches today. I'm sure he's getting a nasty cold. He's eating Ritz Crackers with Cream Cheese right now. Thank you so much Deb. Hope you don't think I've forgotten about you. I've been trying so hard to keep up with my e- mail - it's just been a " little hectic " lately. Of course, I was supposed to get the house organized on Thursday - but, we had a meeting at the school for a Thanksgiving Party (for heaven's sake - they are preschoolers!) and of course, I had to volunteer for things, and 's birthday party is next Wed of which I need to get a craft for that. Life is never dull around here. I also have to make Christmas Party invites for my annual kid party. All this and Ian's health issues. Life is good though. I'm getting rid of my husband this weekend so he'll have some peace to himself for a change. I've been using him alot to help out with the kids on the weekends - although, I told him he has to give me SOME time for myself! Talk to you soon. - H > > > I won't even hazard a comment on the b/s part but I do know this, a temp. of 99-100 in the evening is actually considered normal. Kids tend to get warmer in the evening.
