Guest guest
I take LDN in the morning because I never could handle the sleep disturbances. Insomnia was probably the worst symptom of menopause that I went through, so I believe it was not just an LDN problem alone, but that the LDN added to it. Taking it this way, I sleep well now thankfully. Don't know about weight and LDN, but I have always had to watch what I eat. I would question your thyroid and check it out. Thyroid can also effect sleep. PJ > > Hi There, > > It's been a long time since I've posted. I was on LDN for a year for chronic fatigue and I never really saw that it helped that, so I went offof it in July. I have a 3 month's supply that I was going to hang on to just in case. > > Well, now that I've been off of it for 3 months, my body is going haywire! I'm more sensitive to foods and I'm gaining weight. I've cut my sugar and fruit and honey and I'm still gaining weight. Fluctuations in weight are not normal for me and that's how I knew something was initially wrong when I was diagnosed with celiac. > > The thing is that I have 4.5mg capsules. Has anyone started off at this dose? Will I have trouble sleeping for a few days and then it will be over? I never slept well with LDN, but I'm willing to work with that. Also, whenever I've tried to re-start LDN, I find that I get sick within 2-3 days. Anybody have any experience with this? Anything I can do to prevent this? Did LDN stabilize your weight? > > Is there anything with SCD that helped stop the weight gain? I don't eat almond flour baked goods very often (maybe 1-2 times a month). I'm very careful about what I eat and still I gain weight. Is this a sign of something? > > I don't suspect yeast overgrowth. I'm just really baffled. My digestion is definitely sensitive, if not totally off, on most days since I stopped the LDN. I'd love any help getting back on track. > > Blessings, > Betty >
Guest guest
Thanks for that. It's good to know someone else takes it in the morning. I think I'll do that tomorrow. Anybody else take LDN? What is your experience? How did it enhance what you were doing with the diet? Thanks, Betty -
Guest guest
I also take LDN in the morning, rather than at night. I started out taking 1.5 mg capsules, doubled the dose to 3.0 mg after a few months, and increased the dose to 4.5 mg after a few months. I take LDN when I get up in the morning. After 30 minutes, I take other pre-breakfast medications. One hour after taking LDN, I can finally have breakfast. I'm typically very hungry for my bowl of yogurt and berries by then. I don't know whether LDN is doing anything for me. I have faith that it will eventually help my immune system, so that my arthritis won't get worse. It is also supposed to help with some of the pain pathways in fibromyalgia, but I have not noticed any significant decrease in my pain levels that I can attribute to LDN. As for weight issues, my weight may fluctuate by a few pounds, but I have been able to keep it in a healthy range for nearly 2 years. Starting LDN didn't seem to have any effect on my weight, positive or negative. Activity levels and carbohydrate consumption have more effects. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I would prefer to take it at night but I had the side effect of sleep disturbance that persisted. I sleep better if I take it in the morning. PJ > > > I also take LDN in the morning, rather than at night. Guest guest
I just wanted to comment on the pain issue with LDN. On Oct 1st I will have been on it 1 year. I started with 1.0, have upped it very very slowly, just this week, tonight in fact, will get all the way to 3.5 It has helped my immune system almost immediately so worth it if only for that. But, just a couple weeks ago I suddenly realized I am not taking as many pain pills. AM and bedtime rather than 3-4 times and this is true even when the barometer goes down and wet weather comes in which always adds to the fibro pain. I honestly didn't expect help with the fibro but I think I have gotten it. I have nothing else to attribute this to. I think LDN just works in its own time. I don't know whether LDN is doing anything for me. I have faith that it > will eventually help my immune system, so that my arthritis won't get > worse. Guest guest
Hi n. If I took LDN at night, it would cancel out the very effective medication I take to get into deep sleep, which is part of my program for lessening my fibromyalgia severity. I don't feel depressed in the mornings. With or without LDN in the morning, I'm not very productive the first several hours after I wake up. It turns out that I will be getting a narcotic injected when I go for my colonoscopy in 9 days, so I need to find out how many days in advance I need to stop taking LDN. Guest guest
This discussion came up on one of the LDN groups a little while ago. Standard advice is that you should stop 72 hours before surgery to be sure. However, Dr SKip (whose FL pharmacy does so much of the compounding and knows more than anyone, I think, about LDN) says he recommends a week after a few people have done the 72 hours and it wasn't long enough. I think that's what I'd do if I had to have surgery or a procedure. Good luck with your colonoscopy. No fun at all. It turns out that I will be getting a narcotic injected when I go for my colonoscopy in 9 days, so I need to find out how many days in advance I need to stop taking LDN. Guest guest
I don't know, somehow I just didn't expect it to help fibro. Not for me, I mean. I'm glad to be (slowly) proved wrong. Why not? People take LDN for fibro? There's a whole list for that. Mara
