Re: sharp pains 3 weeks post-ope

Hey Pam,

I'm 7 weeks post-op now (Lefort 1) and I've had some tingling and some

of the sharp sensations you're referring to. I think it's fairly common.

I've had some other weird sensations. I've been working out for the

last few weeks and every time I try to do some running my jaw feels

like it's moving slightly. I probably jumped the gun in terms of

exercise. I wonder how common that is!

Hi Pam,

Sharp jabbies in the face are ok, quite normal. I had them in my chin,

actually, and they were usually followed the next day by more feeling.

If you're having sharp pains in the jaw (bone), though, I'd call your

surgeon and tell him/her what you've said here, that it started after

the bands were changed. That may not be a good thing. My ortho, for

example, said that I should never be in pain, if I was, we'd do

something different. So it could be that the bands are not the right

thing right now. Or maybe they are. But let your surgeon evaluate

this, ok?

Thanks for the advice . I think my jaw alignment was shifting

back from the muscle pulling it, which is why he put the bands in

differently - to try and re-align and keep it centered. I will call

him today and ask about the pangs to make sure they are normal

because I'm not scheduled to see him until next week.
