Hi Dennis:

It's great to hear from you. Well, summer is over in Vancouver. The

weather is cloudy and I need to work OT the whole weekend. While

waiting for the surgery, I have been imagining how puffy my head

will be even though it will only be temporary.

Anyhow, have a good weekend... and I will for sure come back here

and tell you about my surgery and the recovery.

Hi Irene,

My surgery is 9/29 so I'm less than 3 weeks away. I'm not quite to

the nervous stage yet (not about surgery, though I am a little nervous

about getting things done at work, etc.), but I know I will be soon.

How exciting that your surgery is almost here. By this time next

week, you'll be looking great (under all the swelling, hehe) and on

your way to having a much better functioning mouth. :)

Anyway, I just wanted to send a little cheering your way, and to let

you know I'll be looking forward to hearing how it went when you get

back. :)

Hi ,

Thanks for you reply.

BTW, what kind of work that your surgeon will need to do to your jaws?

For mine, it sounds interesting to me. Because the assistant of the

surgeon told me that the surgeon not only needs to (1) push up my gum

line and move the upper jaw backward a bit and (2) enhance my tiny

little chin, but also to pull out all my wisdom teeth (after looking at

the molds). She said that it is a very common practice for patients who

have small mouths/jaw bones.

As a result, I will end up losing 8 teeth after the surgery because my

OD asked my dentist to pull out 4 pre-molars so that I could have more

teeth at the back for chewing. At the end, I still need to have these 4

wisdom teeth removed. Haha... I wonder if I will have enough teeth to

eat later. I am waiting for the assistant to call me tomorrow and tell

me about that.

Yes, I will surely come back and update my surgery and recovery details

to all of you.

Irene,

I'm not sure exactly what procedures he'll be doing, but I have an

underbite with a crossbite, assymetry, and protuding lower jaw, so

he's definitely going to cut my lower jaw and move it back, line it up

and correct my bite. He was also talking about moving my upper jaw up

a little, which is not 100% necessary, but would provide the most

desireable results. At first I was leary of that, but since my teeth

have moved and I have a better idea of what my mouth is like, I think

that I would like for him to do the upper as well.

I had 6 teeth pulled as a kid, and amazingly enough, they didn't take

out my wisdom teeth for this surgery. They said my earlier OD pulled

the correct teeth and there was room for my wisdoms to stay. So yay

for that. I'm sorry you have to have yours pulled, but whatever it

takes to get the best result in the end, right? Thank goodness we

have so many teeth to begin with that we can spare a few, hehe.

~ :)
