Guest guest
Have you looked at oatmeal, kasha, rice, etc? They should be available in the grocery stores. Also, I think Kashi cereal has some that are not made with wheat. Do you have a Whole Foods or Trader Joes near you? What about a health food store? Those are great places to buy wheat-free foods. I'm not sure of other places. I shop at Whole Foods a lot because we have one here in our town. I'm sorry I cannot be of more help. I think you are just going to have to read labels and do the best you can until you find someplace. At least the FDA has changed the labeling rules and the companies have to list, in bold letters, any ingredients that someone could be allergic to. I'm so used to checking for milk and milk-related ingredients that it is second nature for me now. Your biggest problem is going to be bread. It is hard to find wheat-free bread, pizza, pasta. Again, I see them in Whole Foods. Jodi Z
Guest guest
I'm really surprised that you can't find anything at your grocery stores! That stinks! All of them here carry a full section of gluten free products. I used to work with a Downs Syndrome Adult that had celiac disease and I had to shop for and cook for him. I don't know how it works where you're from but at our groceries, if you tell the manager that your son is on a gluten free diet, they will order the products and carry them for you. Some of it is very expensive, but some is pretty reasonable. It couldn't hurt to talk to them about it. Just a thought! Good luck!
