Guest guest
Don't wait until 9 months. 6 mo is a better time to band, and if it is severe you probably won't get enough correction on your own. Plus it can be quite hard to get them to sleep on a different side. By 6 mo they are quite mobile and you'll be flipping her head to the other side all night. Before you get a band you should still try, and also keep her off her head when awake (no bouncer, swing, or carseat unless in the car). Get a bumbo chair to help her sit up more. As for the " best " band, docband has the best overall reputation, but they are not located in all parts of the country. Starband can also be very good, but you need to check out your ortho and make sure they have good experience with banding. here are the websites where you can check out locations: http://www.cranialtech.com http://www.orthomerica.com/technology/scan_locations.htm -christine sydney, 5 yrs, starband grad > > Hi Mommys and Daddys, > > I'm new here. Our pedi said for us to try and get her to sleep on the other side of her head and he would then re-evaulate her at the 9 month appt. > > I'm a little worried about waiting so long since her flat spot is pretty severe and is pushing her skull out on the other side. Guest guest
We had a good experience with Cranial Technologies, the DOC Band. My son is getting out of his helmet next week. He adjusted pretty well to it a week after it was put on. We are SO happy with the results. He's been in it 2 months, and his flat head in the back has rounded out and his sloped forehead has too. I wouldn't have done anything different. The therapists were good, very knowledgeable. If you have a Cranial Tech near you, check them out. -- ~
Guest guest
Thank you. You are right, we are seeing a Neurosurgeon. Right now our appointment is scheduled for 3/28. I appreciate the advise to try and have it looked at more closely now and not wait until the 9 month appt. Thanks for the info. We are in the San Francisco Bay Area, if anyone wants to chime in about the clinics and bands in our area. Thanks again everyone. > > Hello, > > Please don't wait until your daughter is 9 months old to look into banding. > Studies show that repositioning does not work after a baby is six months old(the > skull is too hard at that point.) Guest guest
We used CIRS in Palo Alto for a starband. They also have an office in Oakland. They are the most well know in the area from my experience. -christine sydney, 5 yrs, starband grad > > > > Hello, > > > > Please don't wait until your daughter is 9 months old to look into banding. > > Studies show that repositioning does not work after a baby is six months old(the > > skull is too hard at that point.)
