Guest guest
Hello, Good lcuk with your surgery you will be fine! I too was dreading the recovery more than the surgery itself as I would be awake for the recovery LOL!!!!! Let us know how you get on. I take it you can't sleep? Despite being given sleeping tablets the night before my surgery I was still awake at 3.00 AM! --------------------------------- Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page

Guest guest
Hope it went well. I had an upper leforte I 5 days ago. I don't feel too bad. I had my upper jaw moved up 4mm in the front and 6mm in the back to correct my open bite. My oral surgeon said he was also going to move it forward 3mm. I just studied myself in the mirror. It looks like I have a little bit of an overbite now, but at least no open bite. Ugh, I'm a little depressed. I knew it wouldn't go perfect. Guest guest
Hello, glad to hear you are doing well. Sorry about the " overbite " though; I'm wondering if your surgeon did that because of the orthodontic fine-tuning you will probably be needing once he releases you to your OD. I'm sure your surgeon didn't make a measurement mistake; he had a purpose for that extra maxillary length. That would be a good question for him the next time you have an appointment; maybe you could get him to explain this using your latest cephalometric xray. Just a thought. ~~~~~ Diane-- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , not_too_shabby_z89 <no_reply@y...> wrote: > Hope it went well. I had an upper leforte I 5 days ago. I don't feel too bad. Guest guest
Hey not_too_shabby, I had a leforte 1 on August 17th with similar movement: 4-5mm up in the back and 3mm forward. I have a very slight overbite now but it should take about a day to correct it through orthodontics. I'm sure it was expected by your surgeon. How large is the gap? do you have pics up? > > > Hope it went well. I had an upper leforte I 5 days ago. I don't > > feel too bad. Guest guest
I am hoping all went well and that you are recovering comfortably at this point. Take it easy and post when you feel up to it. Hope all is well! Hugs, Fran > Hi to all! This is my first time posting a message. I have been > reading and browsing the photos here for quiet awhile now. Guest guest
Hey thanks for the post . I have been taking pictures, but haven't updated my site yet. I haven't taken any over my overbite. I saw my surgeon today and he said my " iteeth " were in the right spot and most of my overbite is caused by the gaps my orthodontist put in place because they had originally planned to segment my jaw into three pieces. He said once those gaps are closed up, my front teeth will move back. I'm probably just paranoid, I worry a lot. Especially after spending so much money, I want the perfect result > > > > Hope it went well. I had an upper leforte I 5 days ago. I > don't > > > feel too bad. Guest guest
One more question . Did you have lip incompetance because of your maxillary excess? Does that seem to be better. I can't really tell since I can't really breathe out of my nose yet and I still have some swelling. I hope it's fixed. It would be nice to wake up in the morning and not have a dry mouth. Guest guest
Before surgery, my lip incompetence was minor. Although, I've always had a tendency to breathe through my mouth while sleeping. I'm not convinced that's going to change. I'm confident yoga or duct tape will help. > One more question . Did you have lip incompetance because of your maxillary > excess? Guest guest
No Too Shabby, You said that originally your surgery was supposed to involve segmenting your jaw into 3 pieces, but now it was not. What did they end up doing? I am supposed to have a 3-piece surgery as well, but it has continuously gotten canceled because there is not enough space between my teeth. My surgeon says that there is no other way to do the surgery, but my orthodontist says there is another way to do it. My surgeon is extremely difficult to work with, and I am thinking about changing surgeons anyway. But please let me know what they did instead of the 3-piece. Thanks! Guest guest
He assumed her needed to do three pieces before he did the surgery on the models. He ended up removing 6mm from the back and 4mm from the front. Essentially a wedge shape piece of bone. He said that my very back teeth won't touch until my orthodontist does some fine tuning. So they did it all with one piece, ie not section my upper jaw. The issue with doing it in 3 pieces was that one of my roots curved into the area that they wanted to cut through. He didn't think anymore orthodontic work would fix it. Might not be a bad idea to see another surgeon, if you aren't happy. > > > > > > Hope it went well. I had an upper leforte I 5 days ago.
