I have had many of those myself. I recently had a

weeks vacation and had all kinds of plans on

accomplishing things around the house. I did get a

little bit done, but not nearly what I had in mind.

Recharged my battery pretty good though... -dz-

Bethanne,

My doc based my diagnosis on the extreme level of LFT (usually

extremely high with AIH) and positive antibodies. Another indication

was my immediate response to prednisone...counts went down. I did not

have the biopsy for 2 more months, after my enzymes went back up after

the prednisone was reduced. His explanation was that before starting

me on any additional meds, to ensure the diagnosis. I also just read

an article @ emedicine.com about AIH listing several indices for the

disease which includes exactly what my doctor told me as well as

association with other autoimmune diseases (I have thyroid, and family

members with other such)

Each doctor though, has their own process for dxing AIH; and of course

each has their own opinion of the best way...LOL

a,

You are not whinning. I do the same thing. My son says Mom you need to get

out and do something. They just do not understand the extreme fatigue. Vent

all you like. My comment to my son is " Sorry the maid's chronically ill.

There's the washer and here's the soap. If you need clothes do them. " He

now laughs and does his wash if I'm wiped out. He's almost 17 though and

it's a little easier than having small children. Vent all you like. And

sleep all you need. You're body is telling you something.

I think we all can understand being tired. Hope the B-12 shots work. I had those when I was in my 20's. Never understood the reason why, except iron was low and so was my Mom's at the time, so we went together. I'm finding that by coming home from work just a little earlier and resting an hour before I have to start dinner and do all those other house work jobs, it does give me a little more energy. Take care Ann CT [ ] questions Hello everyone, This is a. I have posted a couple of times and enjoy each and everyone of you as I read the group postings daily. I learn so much from all of you and know I can come here as a safe place where others understand what I mean when I say I am SO tired! For the past week I have felt SO EXHAUSTED and just can't seem to find the words to express to my family to make them truly understand!!!!! They play it off by saying there is a new flu going around and that is probably what I am coming down with. I am not sure if it is their way of living in denial of my AIH, diabetes or other medical problems I am currently experiencing. Believe me, it is not normal for a person to come home Friday afternoon from work and basically sleep until about 5 pm Sunday evening. My body feels heavy and all I want to do is sleep. Also, lately I have been getting sores on my tongue. Have any of you experienced this at all? I am an extreme anemic and have been receiving Vitamin B-12 shots. They want to try this for 30 days. If my levels do not increase then they want to attempt a transfusion. I am just very frustrated right now and wish I didn't feel 80 years old when I just turned 36 last month. I know some of you are so much sicker than I and I am not trying to whine.....I just want to talk with you as I know you all understand some of my thoughts. Have any advice????? Thank you for listening. Take care and I truly mean it when I say thank you for being here and understanding. a in Arizona....

Hi a It is nice to hear from you. I know what it is like to feel so tired that the only thing you think about is how soon can you go to bed. If you feel like you want to sleep then sleep be kind to yourself. It took a long time for my family to recognise that I was really ill and after dragging myself around for so long I was taken into the hospital and the Dr told my family that I was very ill. It gave them a shock but it did them good now when I feel tired they believe me and are the first to tell me to rest. Look after yourself. Hugs Jeanette UK AIH dx 1998 Cirrhosis 2001

Hello. I think family and close friends don't really want to think that you are sick. I know at times there are no outward symptoms of this disease so when you say you are tired or do not really feel right they don't understand. Be good to yourself and learn to listen to your body if it wants rest, then rest. I know that the saying is a mother can never be sick, but listen to what Jeanette said so you do not land in the hospital.

Hugs :)

Dear ,

Please keep us posted on how you are

doing. How did they know you have cirrhosis without the biopsy? I hope you are feeling

well. They ran the IgM test on me to test for cancer.

So far it was low in the reading, so no cancer.

I think this is the book you want, it was

recommended by Harper. I just ordered mine through Amazon because I am too lazy

to go to the store. It is called “Dr. Palmer’s Guide to

Hepatitis & Liver Disease: What You Need to Know”.

AIH, like Autoimmune Thyroid are caused by

a haywire immune system that fails to recognize; the liver and the thyroid as ‘self’

so it tries to eliminate this ‘foreign tissue’. The faulty immune

system manifests itself in other ways, causing diseases like lupus, multiple

sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes etc.

Questions

I have read only a few digests from the LiverSupport

Group but have gained a

wealth of knowledge. For that I thank you

all.

Thus far (in the past 2 weeks) I have been

confirmed having Autoimmune Liver

Disease. The drs. say I also have

cirrhosis. They will not tell me if

there is cancer also. I am having a liver

biopsy in several days.

I have a few questions:

*What is the name

and author of the book that is considered helpful to

read on this subject?

*What does the

presence of cirrhosis mean? Does this indicate I have had

this for a long time?

*Is back pain

caused by this disease?

*Do they

" stage " this disease like they do cancer?

*Is there a

connection between this disease and Autoimmune Thyroid Disease?

Thanks for your help!!!

Hi all, i was just wondering what your opinions were on mercury amalgam fillings

causing PA. I went to a dentist in 1996, (who subsequently shut down a month

later) and he gave me 6 fillings and i was told that some of them were not

necessary and my joints definately felt worse immediately after i had them.I

then recently read that a Dr with PA had all his fillings removed to the root

and is now in remission from PA. I'm thinking about giving it a try, what have i

got to lose.

Another thing, can taking NSAIDs affect how the sun affects your skin, ie

sunburn.

I'm taking 1000mg of cod-liver oil and evening primrose oil a day.Should i be

taking more than this?

Has anybody has any problems with their teeth. Mine seem to have become crumbly

and i've lost 2 teeth in the last 6 months.

Cheers

Dave,

You might want to take a look at an article at:

http://www.home.earthlink.net/~berniew1/amalg6.html

Basically, yes, mercury in amalgam fillings can cause all sorts of

problems, especially amongst dentists and dental office workers who

deal with them on a daily basis. The two major exposures you get to

mercury vapor (the most harmful form of mercury) is when the fillings

are installed and when they are removed (unless the dentist uses

special precautions, which most don't). According to the article,

after 10 or 15 years, most of the mercury has already leeched out

into your system, so there's not much reason to have them removed at

that point, but I will never again have a mercury amalgam filling

installed into my mouth.

Hi! My name is Gloria, and my doctor said that I cannot do a toast in October to my own daughters wedding, I never was a drinker and I thought on this one occassion that they would at least let me have a drink, to toast, I can only have non-alcoholic, wht do something that could hurt, with all of the medication that I take he is right, I recently went off of prednisone in Feburary, and I see my G.I. tomorrow. Good luck. Gloria.

Hi Gill,

I'm so glad to hear your blood work has been good. My has been good

too for quite a few months now and I'm still tired. This is normal

although not everyone has the fatigue. This disease is so wierd it

us all in different ways. When I last saw my gastro doc I asked him

why I was still so tired with such good blood work and great biopsy

report. He said, " you still have a liver disease. " That helped me

feel a little more sane.

As far as drinking. I have heard some say that there docs tell them

it's OK every once in a while but very limited. I don't think YOU

should do anything until you ask YOUR doc. S/He know your liver best.

Hope you have fun at the wedding,

Dave,

There are some guidelines for removing amalgam fillings at:

http://www.talkinternational.com/mercuryprotocol.htm

I cannot vouch for these guidelines however, since I do not know

anything about the web site where they are posted, and only found it

by doing an Internet search.
