Guest guest
Recalling the warning that we should not always trust information on labels, I compared information on "No Added Sugar" Dole Crushed Pineapple and "No Added Sugar" Market Basket Crushed Pineapple. Both labels indicated 16rams sugar and since the Dole brand has, I believe, been checked out as trustworthy, I assumed the 16gr was an honest figure and bought the cheaper (40cents cheaper) Market Basket. Later, with a closer look at the label, I was puzzled to see that the Dole has 18gr carbs and 70 calories, while Market Basket has 20gr carbs and 80 calories. Both list the same ingredients: pineapple, pineapple juice, citric acid. Can there be a legitimate reason for Market Basket having an additional 2gr carb and 10 calories without adding sugar? (Thailand is the pineapple source for both.)
Guest guest
One reason could be that the pineapple juice from the other brand has something added to it before it got sold as pineapple juice. Then was just listed as pineapple juice from the company. This is why if you are going to stick 100 percent then you should only eat/drink what has been okayed. Or they will add sugar derived from pineapple juice, and they can still say " pineapple juice.
