Guest guest
There are 2 things that are used a lot to add flavor to food - fat and sugar. So if you get something that is low fat it is generally high in sugar content. By the same token, if you get something low in sugar you may have a higher fat content. Guest guest
They use sugars and emulsifiers (binders / thickeners) to replace the " mouth feel " that you get from food items that are not fat-modified. Our mouths are very in-tune with food textures, and if stuff feels " off " , we won't eat it. On a low-carb regimen, fats are ok if they are not trans-fats. And even if you aren't on a low-carb diet, you generally get much more satisfaction from a smaller portion of a real food than something that has been produced in a chemistry lab. Keltie What are they adding to low fat foods that ++Carbs? OK for years I've noticed that whenever something says " Low Fat " watch out! The carb count sometimes doubles even triples. Does anyone know what in the world they add to foods that make them low fat yet increase the carbs so much? I usually end up either not buying it period or going with the regular instead of the low fat. Seems like a cruel joke on the masses to me. Guest guest
Take a look at the sugar grams- they usually are very high. When fat is removed they have to add something to make it tasty, so they dump in the sugars.
