Guest guest
A nice newbie has been asking me iron questions, so I'm posting the thread to the group. Given my experience with iron supplements not working, and the infusion working, I'm not sure some of us are helped by iron supplements. What do you all think? Danny, The doctor said Flintstones chewable with iron. Our parents said a lot of crazy thing, too. <g> When I became low, my GP, then my hematologist suggested the niferex liquid. It's nasty tasting and makes black and stinky poop. You have to mix it with oj and use a straw because it can stain teeth. The duodenum is where iron gets absorbed and that's what's bypassed. He was hoping enough would " splash " back up that way to be beneficial, but it wasn't. We're reconfigured in a way that absorbing iron and calcium is difficult. I suppose it varies from individual to individual. This supplementation only began at about year 5 when we noticed it was finally low. ly, I only became slightly anemic. I thought the infusion would increase the energy tremendously, but it did not. I may have noticed some improvement. My infusion occurred in one afternoon. They slowly give it to you in a drip, monitoring you for reactions. It was perfectly uneventful. Once I started the niferex elixir, before the infusion, my levels just *barely* rose a hair. So, I'm personally skeptical that supplementation would help me at all. In fact, I still don't do it. I'm planning on seeing the hematologist every 6-12 months to check levels and get infused if necessary. I take it you're less than a year out. I would just watch the trend of the labs. If I knew then what I know no, I would line my labs up in an excel spreadsheet so I could spot these things. in Austin RNY April 1998 PS I would personally limit personal contact info in your signature line, like phone numbers, etc. You can always give them out on an individual basis if you choose. Guest guest
, have you tried Chromagen Forte? Why don't you give it a try just to see if it's absorbed any better? in NJ
