Guest guest
Hi , you should be tested for anti thyroid antibodies, FREE T3 and FREE T4, and iodine status. It can be hard to find a doc who is helpful since most look at TSH only. Read some good books, look at topdocs list http://www.geocities.com/thyroide http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com A great book is Hypothyroidism: the Unsuspected Illness by Broda MD new book is Hypothyroidism, type 2 the Epidemic by Mark Starr. Guest guest
Oh , I really do feel for you. My son was so like that at that age. Anytime anyone got him or me anything nice I would actually get mad that they wasted the money . He drew on everything, got food on everything, broke everything, smeared dozens of eggs all over the kitchen on a routine basis, would run out of the house and hide, taking him in public was a nightmare, etc. Back then I didn't know anything about any " problems " he might have had and was just mad at him for driving me crazy. I thought he was doing it on purpose or just didn't care what he was doing. I scolded, lectured, yelled, spanked, grounded, took away toys. None of it worked. Traditional discipline just does not work with many of our kids. Which is maddening as the traditional stuff is pretty much all we as parents have in our arsenal. The only thing that I found worked at that age and up until recently was positive reinforcement. It still works best (my son is 9) but he is now old enough (and being treated properly) to not have meltdowns or freak out over simple punishments. To do that you have to strip down all the fun stuff to " privileges " which they have to earn, but your son is kind of young to get that. Anyway as for practical advice, get a big lockbox or put a padlock on a closet or the garage or something to put your valuables in. Treat your stuff like you have a ginourmous infant in the house and get everything out of reach (including standing on chair height). For the china cabinet, you can get these wall anchors (they sell them in most child safety sections) that keep the cabinet from falling over. As for the fridge, you can always put a lock on it. I did until my son figured it out, which honestly only took a couple months. If you don't mind marring the appearance of your fridge, you could always put a more permanent lock on than what they sell for kids. Next, get him formally assessed by a psychologist or pediatrician knowledgeable about Aspergers. If and when he gets the diagnosis you can look into all sorts of therapies that can help him. There is occupational therapy that can help with the feeding and other issues, ABA therapy, counseling (though he's young for it), special education programs, social skills groups, etc. And yes, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is always hope. He will get older and his reasoning will improve, he won't eat as messily, he won't break all your possessions and he will communicate better. This is not to say he won't find new ways to drive you up the wall (mine did) but at least things WILL change, I promise. Best of luck to you and your son, Tabitha ( ) HELP! My son just turned 5...he is not yet officially diagnosed, but all who work with him says he has all the symptoms of Aspbergers, anyway his scattered skills range from 24 mos. to 6 years. The problem is he's mentally like a 2 year old as far as acting on impulses, but physically is 5 so he can actually do the things a two year old can't. He has broken almost everything I've owned, jewlery, makeup, perfume, nick nacks, climbs up on my china cabnet, etc. I have tried timeouts and I physically have to hold him in the time out and it's way too stressfull on me to do it anymore. I've finally resorted to threatning to break his Buzz Lightyears every time he breaks one of my things. (he is obsessed with Buzz and the gang from Toy Story) He has a high vocabulary, but I don't know how to get through to him....as my mom used to put it so often when I was growing up " I might as well go talk to a tree " When I got him at nine months, (he's adopted) and when he was two...I used to gush about how calm he was...how he never got into anything....I long for those days now. Being a single mom with him and his 6 year old sister is wearing on me big time, tonight he broke my favorite necklace my mother got me. Does it ever stop???? I also have to help feed him...(he's about as messy as a 2 year old when it comes to feeding himself) If I don't get him juice or something to drink right at the moment he wants it he goes into the fridge and tries to do it himself and makes a mess...Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? and does anyone have any suggestions???? I was ill (I've been ill since his pregnancy) and this was my first child. I kept taking him to the doctors and saying this child is not acting right -- breaking things, tantrums, etc. Any idea he got in his head, he would do. No negative or positive reinforcement worked. Everyone patted me on the head and said I just was a nervous new mother and nothing was wrong. When ds was 4 we got him evaluated by the school and reevaluated by his pediatrician. They both said he had adhd. At that time he started on medication (I believe adderall that was later changed to ritalin). I hated doing it, but the difference was night and day. All the behavior training we had tried previously began to work. It was like a wall was there where all behavior modification therapies bounced off the wall until the medication dissolved the wall. Now medication and behavior modification alone did not fix everything. We discovered when ds finished 1st grade hating school (and after not really learning anything) that he wasn't adhd, but actually AS! So in many ways we had done the right things, but in many ways we hadn't done some of the necessary things. We are still working on those necessary things. But ds still remains on his Concerta (the timed release form of ritalin). And everytime we do take him off of it (he's 12 now), that wall bounces right back up and nothing we do can reach him until he starts his medication again. Hope this helps. Taking off the fireproof clothes now. C
Guest guest
K... Same thing happened to me.. Here is what I did.. Prepare a bunch of snacks in easy serve containers.. Diced carrots.. Etc.. Whatever he likes.. With a lid on it.. And he can self serve. Also.. SIPPY CUPS>> Sippy cups.. RULE!! And are easily filled.. Get about 6 - 10 of them.. Pre filled with .. Juice .. Or milk.. Or whatever he likes.. And this is also stored in the fridge for easy access. He is a bright intelligent boy.. Take solace in that.. And hope it keeps your sanity Hon.. LOL.. Honestly.. I remember those days.. I was single too It does get better.. Trust me! Also.. Make sure they are the drip free sippy cups.. LOL otherwise.. It can mean a great fun thing for him to drip stuff all over.. Oh yeah and meanwhile.. Get a lock for your toilet.. I believe it was around this time where my son decided.. It was fun to watch EVERYTHING get flushed down the toilet.. A very expensive venture.. But it solved the mystery of the missing toothbrushes!! -- Re: ( ) HELP! Guest guest
Dear C, Why do you feel that you need a fire repellant suit? Nobody's going to flame you for doing what works for your child! We're in the process of finding out what meds work for our child, too. And most likely, it will turn out to be quite a little cocktail, as we're treating him as if he were bipolar. (I am, and he's got lots of the symptoms.) I'm glad you've found something that's helpful! Guest guest
Ahhhhhh yes, I remember days like those...... My son is now 8 yrs old.....I remember when he was 2 yrs old and I bragged about what a good child I had.....I never needed any locks on the doors or cabinets like everyone else did......not until he was around 4 or 5.....then I had one very large 2 year old (with an incredible vocabulary) on my hands (I too was a single mom then). The meltdowns were maddening.....still are but they are getting less frequent (due to age and therapies). Guest guest
Hi Olif After about 2 weeks on the anti-candida regime, I suddenly got horribly nauseous and threw up about 3 times. I was so sick that I had to take 2 days off work. The nausea lasted about 2 weeks, but after that it went away and I felt a lot better. It was definitely die-off for me, most likely for you too. If it is too bad, give yourself a day off anti-fungals and then cut back for a few days. You don't want to overtax your liver. Good luck. Keen help! Okay, I have been bloated for a few days and slightly nauseous for a day. Well, this evening I was extremely nauseous, have diarrhea and eventually threw up. I honestly feel better after throwing up. Is this die off? I feel like I have the flu. If this is die off, I need to slow down on the antifungals! I have been taking them for 2 1/2 weeks now. Thanks, Olif

Guest guest
Thank you, Keen! I felt like I was dieing this morning too. I am going to keep off the antifungals today and then try half doses tomorrow. I am supposed to drive 7 hours to see a relative in a few days. Will it hurt anything if I keep to half doses of my antifungals until I get back (a week) as long as I stick to the diet? Guest guest
Nausea might relate to toxin load -- have you done some liver flushes, which will reduce toxin recirculation, or provided the necessary liver support with glutatione precursors? Nausea could also relate to electrolyte imbalance, maybe potassium deficiency. Duncan > " Olif " <OVanPelt@...> wrote: > > Okay, I have been bloated for a few days and slightly nauseous for a day. Guest guest
It shouldn't do any harm. I read that you should not overtax your liver by trying to get rid of the toxins too quickly. Guest guest
Olif, On the Vickery's, amino acids do not detoxify, and there is not nearly enough cystine in it to create adequate glutathione that would. Your amino acid needs including the glutathione production would be satisfied with cold-processed whey, which would also produce more detoxifying glutathione. Sodium is an exemplary potassium depletor, so along with taking potassium supplements you'd reduce salt intake. I use " No-Salt " from the supermarket to increase my potassium even though I also eat lots of veggies that contain potassium. Concentrace is probably the most expensive mineral supplement; to avoid unnecesary expense I use montmorillonite (clay) that contains a high percentage of decayed ocean phytoplankton, thus their minerals, in bioavailable form. Neither one provides adequate potassium; a common supplemental potassium regimen might start at just under five grams (about a tsp) daily, so go ahead and use it. Guest guest
Dear edge I will give credit to my buddy in Oregon , Trisha another tech educator: 1 hour = 60 minutes 1 grain = 60 mg Also the more exact is 64.8 but not necessary to use that. It can also be 65 mg. Rule of thumb: if the number of mg ends in a 0 try 60 then 65 to find the answer closest to the test possibilities. Rule if the number of mg ends in a 5 try 65 then 60 to find the anser closest to the test possibilities. You may have to round to the nearest whole number. In real life? the label will indicate, and if not use the above rule. Hope this helps. Guest guest
depends on the answers (pctb is multiple choice last i knew) The 64.8 must be the exact conversion, as I don't remember seeing it. what is commonly used is either 60mg or 65mg. that is why a 5 grain tablet of aspirin is 325mg, whereas a 5 grain tablet of ferrous sulfate is 300mg. I know there is a more technicial way of explaining it, but that is my real world way--Jeanetta or one of the textperts can go more technicial if its needed. --- jaimeedge49 <jaimeedge49@...> wrote: Hi everyone...my name is and I am taking the national exam tomorrow. Guest guest
Karin I already explained it. Pretty much the same way. the 64.8 is based upon th e fact that 1 fl oz and 1 dry oz are not really 30 ml either. They are some other number less than 30 which is not at my fingertips at the moment. No matter you and I have explained it that either 65 or 60 can be used in the real world. In a tutorial I have the technical explanation. However it is not needed as the PTCB questions will either use 60 or 65 mg = 1 grain. Thanks Karin for your input! Jeanetta karin h <hockeykatbird_27@...> wrote: depends on the answers (pctb is multiple choice last i knew) The 64.8 must be the exact conversion, as I don't remember seeing it. what is commonly used is either 60mg or 65mg. that is why a 5 grain tablet of aspirin is 325mg, whereas a 5 grain tablet of ferrous sulfate is 300mg. I know there is a more technicial way of explaining it, but that is my real world way--Jeanetta or one of the textperts can go more technicial if its needed. --- jaimeedge49 <jaimeedge49@...> wrote: Hi everyone...my name is and I am taking the national exam tomorrow. Guest guest
Corn, according to the diet we are on, should not be touched for the first 3 - 6 months. Many people also have allergies to corn (which we do). Soy I avoid completely, I've read really bad things about what it does to your body - try googling. We have eaten tomatoes from the beginning with no problems. We completely avoid dairy, so no butter either. The fat triggers our IBS. Hope that helps. Keen Help! Hi! I've been treating myself to get off-candida since 3 weeks... I'm sick, really sick, for 15 years... and i'm not 30 years old yet!!!... so this diet and diagnostic is " kind of " my last chance to get better... I get confuse about some restriction about the diet, because some of advice are opposite depend on the list and group you check... so i ask for your own advice and knowledge... What about corn? (vegetable and flour) What about soy? (flour and seed) What about tomatoes? What about butter?... Thanks for your help... i'm new in that group and i'm very grateful that i've find you... feel less alone now... Thanks for your answer!!! Guest guest
Hi Helen, I can't give specific recommendations regarding home remedies (medication-type), but would strongly recommend a humidifier/vaporizer to help keep the secretions thinned out. We didn't do this when our family caught a bug and we're all coughing long after the other symptoms are gone (but better now that we are using the humidifier). Hope this helps. helen marie neilson <bubbas_bookworm@...> wrote: My son is sick.Ahh His nose is really runny and very congested, fever isn't real high.Any suggestions other than a bunch of meds.Safe home remedies maybe. He's six, weighs 71 lbs,dd,on risperdal and valproic acid, melatonin, cod liver oil,mit a mins, and no fenol, zymeprime.Casin free.I'd appreciate any advice.TNX Helen
Guest guest
I've got a remedy that always works very well for my kids when they get sick like that. Make a tea with the following herbs: echinacea-- root or leaf, doesn't matter. Use about two teaspoons per kid per day. Also one clove of fresh garlic per kid per day. Slice or crush the garlic a little before you make tea with it. Use about two cups of water per kid per day to make the tea. If the kid has fever, also add about two teaspoons of feverfew leaf per kid per day to the tea. Give each kid about two ounces of tea at least once every four hours. My health food store has a bulk herbs section where I can buy one ounce or less of each of these herbs, so it doesn't cost much money at all to get my kids over colds and flus. The feverfew should get rid of fever by the second dose. It may not go down much after the first dose but it should go down quite a bit or disappear after the second. The runny nose & congestion should get better right away. I've never tried these, but I've read that juniper leaf tea, spruce tip tea, and mustard plasters are good for congestion also. -- > > My son is sick.Ahh His nose is really runny and very congested, fever > isn't real high.Any suggestions other than a bunch of meds.Safe home > remedies maybe. He's six, weighs 71 lbs,dd,on risperdal and valproic > acid, melatonin, cod liver oil,mit a mins, and no fenol, zymeprime.Casin > free.I'd appreciate any advice.TNX > > Helen >

This combination works very well for colds and flu at my house. Dana
