Guest guest
An apartment is one of the worst places to be. Wireless networks abound, TVs are everywhere, and you may have building power routed by your unit. Get yourself a meter(s) and find a place with lower levels of EMF. Vermont is a good state. They generally put the towers up in the mountain. Stay clear of Boston, those bastards are raising towers everywhere. Eli > > I've been having a hell of a time lately! Guest guest
Hi, Blue, We are all pretty much in the same boat as you. Read thru all the past posts--at least 2 years past--and you will see we discuss helps here all the time. Calcium AEP and pantethine are 2 supplements which help me, but they do not " cure " the problem. If you want more info, contact me personally. But you will need to read past posts to really get a true picture of what you are dealing with and how to go about treating the problem. Guest guest
Hi, , Have you ever tried nicotine patches? I did read somewhere why nicotine helps, but have forgotten where and when I read this. Is this the case? My son has repeatedly been bringing home F's on these types of papers and he is an A/B student. I didnt' know if anything could be written in his IEP about this (has anyone done this) or if he needs something written from his doc, or what. I am at my wits end. I am pretty new to the IEP thing and just go along with what his teacher says, but getting ready to go to Middle School scares the H out of me. The only accomodations he gets now is read aloud tests. If you can think of any website or document that has the info about copying from one page to another, could you please send it to me so I can show the teacher? Any advice would be greatful. Hi Tonya. Here is my experience with this... (I have a 14yo with AS) First of all, look back through the recommendations sections of your son's past evaluations. I'd be really surprised if this hasn't been addressed. So, you may have some recommendations tailor-made for your son right there. Second of all, make sure you don't just talk to the teacher. The entire IEP team should be deciding how to transition your son to middle school. The teacher should not be the one deciding what accommodations/interventions your son gets--she's the one carrying them out. You should all be deciding these things as a team. If you are not already aware, as a member of the team, you have the right to call a meeting at any time to discuss issues. If you are at your wit's end, you should be calling a meeting. Your son's problems could be caused by different things. That said, just to possibly give you some ideas, I'll let you know what accommodations my son has in this area. He gets class notes or partial class notes given to him (at his age, they want him to work on doing it himself). He gets extra time on all tests if he needs it. He gets instructions to things written down for him in linear, bulleted format (or he writes it down under supervision). Just about anything where he has to write things down, he is supervised. In his 504, this is written as " checks " by teacher. I think most jr/sr high schools have aides or special ed teachers in some classrooms, usually referred to as " helpers " or " co-teachers " in front of the kids, who are there to help kids like ours. He could be assigned one. These are not one-on-one aides, but aides or teachers that float around helping kids with special issues. They could help him with his copying issues. Although my son has not ever been officially assigned one of these teachers, he is sometimes put in their classrooms so he gets their help anyway. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi! Yes lots of things can be written into his IEP...he can get a scribe, or he can get copies of the class notes from the teachers, he can get oral tests...he can write his papers on computers instead of writting it long hand...there are lots and lots of accommodations.... You and the IEP team can sit down and work on it. I am sure some other people on this site my have some ideas too! Guest guest
Well I would think the proof is in what you noticed. That they could put that in his IEP. But wanted to suggest you ask, in writing, for an occupational therapist to evaluate him. You can use your example as the reason why. My son's OT did an eval for him back in elementary school (he's 20 now) and one of the suggestions she had was that he had problems with answer sheets, that he be able to write answers in the test booklets, etc., and not use answer sheets. So we wrote this into his IEP. It was something about having to go back & forth between the question sheet and the answer sheet. So when he had, example, the state tests with the bubble answer sheets, he answered in the booklet. The teacher copied his answers onto the bubble sheet for him. Classwork would have been just writing on the question sheet too. Here's something I quickly googled about OT evals: http://www.childrens-services.com/view_268536.html > > Good Morning ALL! > I am in desperate need of some advice. Guest guest
Congratulations on getting an IEP already in place. Good idea to start planning now for next year. Middle school can awful for everyone, let alone kids that need a little extra help. I think that your son's homework issues are quite common. My son has problems completing forms and worksheets and has always resisted them. I remember long hours in Kindergarten trying to get him to color parts of the picture to see the hidden number and him just looking at the blank page and easiy picking out the hidden number. He just couldn't see the point of having to color the picture when he already knew the answer. He is so smart and for awhile there he was barely passing his classes because he wouldn't do some of the homework or would do the homework, but fail to turn it in. He's almost 18 now and still can't fill out the simplest of forms. He always seems to miss some of the sections. I think he gets confused by complex layouts - all those the boxes, tiny instructions, shading, and especially the boxes where you are supposed to write something. You definitely need more accommodations in place for middle school - like extra time for exams or writing assignments, a note taker, someone making sure that he is getting written instructions for homework, and that someone is checking every day to ask him to turn in his homework. Maybe some accommodations related to anxiety - like permission to eat lunch somewhere less crowded or noisy, or the ability to use a lock that is easier to open on his locker. You may want to talk to a parent advocate for some ideas on what you can ask for on the IEP in your school district. Maybe Google information on IEPs to see what others have asked for. Â Because supplements alone will not get rid of Lyme. Â You should send an email to a group with the title of your email saying " need to find a LLMD in Maine " Â (or wherever you are located). Â Someone will email you the whole list. Â You need to find a Lyme Literate Doctor. Â It took me years to finally get a diagnosis. Good luck, [ ] Help! Hello, My name is Jj and I am suffering from lyme disease, so I thought I would give you a back ground. I was born and raised in Ohio, and then moved to Maine for college last Fall- I started working at an outdoor adventure center and was camping a lot. I went on a staff training in October, and it was around a 5 day trip...On the last day of the trip I noticed a tick bite on my hip bone which looked different than any tick bite I had ever seen. I ended up getting flu like symptoms that week that I was home from the Tick bite, and then I felt fine, so I thougth nothing of it. I was home for Christmas break and started to get what I thought was heart palpitations, I would get a rushing sensation of anxiety followed by a dizzy like feeling and a speedy heart rate. I was admitted into the hospital and given multiple heart tests, even including wearing a heart moniter, and the only thing showing was that I had a fast heart rate. I went back to school in January and that was when we started questioning lyme disease, I had had multiple other symptoms that occur with Lyme disease. Finding a Lyme disease doctor in Maine was not the easiest task, but finally with hous of research we found an acupuncturist who said he could help, I was tested and found positive for lyme and was given lyme supplements for 30 days- which we thought had cured me, until recently when I started feeling sick again and was put back on the supplements with no success. I need help, Most doctors Won't believe me...Or they just dont care...and I don't want to continue on a path that will harm me- I just cant! IF Anyone has been to a successful lyme disease doctor In Ohio, PA, KY, Or Maine...Please let me know!
Guest guest
Hi Phyllis, Welcome to Bee's group! It sounds like you've been following Bee's program for a couple of months now - that's great! Good for you! If you've been on her program, you will start to get healing reactions which can include the symptoms you've described - heart palpitations, yeast infections, ringing in the ears, etc. This is a good indication that your body is starting to heal itself. You didn't say how closely you are following her program or the amount of coconut oil you've been taking. Are you fully on the program now, including supplements, or are you still transitioning? If the die-off and healing reactions are too severe for you, it might be best to take a little less coconut oil until you feel a bit better. Is the accutane for acne? As I'm sure you know, it's best not to take that since it is toxic and will cause more problems for you in the future. Acne is caused by toxins coming through the skin. Bee says that the skin is the one of the best organs for detoxifying. You could try putting cod liver oil on your acne. It seems to work for me. If you have some specific questions about what you find overwhelming or need help with, please let us know! > > Hi. My name is Phyllis. I am a 37 year old married mother of 3--all boys ages 12 and 1/2 and 11 year old twins. I have candida-no doubt. My mainstream doctors won't give in but 2 different alternative doctors who cost way too much money know better. <snip> The weight loss has also been from cutting out sugar and I look forward to following this program although there are parts that seem a little overwhelming but I'm willing to do what needs to be done. Also coconut oil mixed 50-50 with oil of oregano. Makes my acne go away in few hours. These are also very good for scars. My face was terrible but now is almost perfect.
