ITA!!! I thought the post was amazing! For people who are new to this, I would suggest that, when the first 4 or so extra pounds come on, GET RID OF THEM RIGHT AWAY, BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY (short of starving or purging, of course), because once they become 40 pounds it SO MUCH harder, especially as we get older. I found after age 25 or so that I had to eat in a healthy way and exercise regularly or I would put on weight--which was hard for me to get used to as I was the skinniest kid alive, other kids made fun of me and it was traumatic and horrible. The doctors don't seem concerned w/weight gain at all when they are treating us, and say we can deal with it later--easy for THEM to say. Men can lose weight more easily, as they have more muscle mass, and also typically aren't the ones responsible for cooking for and feeding a family, so they can stay away from food better. As I said before, I didn't wait for results of tests when I wanted to cut my dose of Tap, I just listened to my body. I don't know if this would work for others, but it worked for me. Guest guest
Hello kelea25 There are people here who know a lot about this condition we share, but the main thing is to find our information for yourself so you know your body and how it feels and what it wants, or doesn't want, better than anyone else. Have you had a look at www.iThyroid.com??? help! hi i'm glad there are people out there going thru the same thing. i have been hyper for 2 years. I was diagnosed in icu 6 days after my son was born. i had toxiema which caused congestive heart failure which they say was all caused from a misdiagnosed thyroid condition. After test after test, 3 meds( paxil tapozol, proponal, which i am currently still on)and radio active iodine thearapy i am still hyper. i have improved a little but still hyper. i get so frustrated because iam only 25 and just got happily married and i am ready to have more children. My 2 main problems is that i have had and still do have alot of anxiety and stress, i have gained about 20 pounds and seemed to devolp sinus problems.which i sometimes wonder if the sinus problems are somewhat connected. i get worried sometimes that i will never be normal again help i need a a comforting message to reassure me that it is only a matter 0f time. don't worry i am not depressed ialways greet every time with the best and i am a postive person. it gets hard at times let me know what has work for you or what more i need to do. Guest guest
Hang in there. It sounds like you are having a terrible time right now. The pancreatitis attacks do take it out of you. I felt terrible for several weeks and then it passed. Hopefully, things will look better tomorrow. Just know we all care.
Guest guest
I am under the care of a pain management doctor because of my continuing RUQ abdominal pain from pancreatitis and maybe also from all the inflammation in my liver. More on that later. Anyway, the pain mgmt doc said he normally has his pain patients work with a psychologist experienced in dealing with patients with chronic illnesses/pain. He didn't tell me to make an appt, but after the AIH diagnosis on Jan 6th, I decided I needed help to deal with all I have on my plate. I saw the psychologist last week and I really did like him. I have an obsessive personality, which has been good in some areas of my life. It's one of the reasons I've been so successful in my career - give me a task and I give it 200% til it's completed better than almost anyone else could have done it. However, with my personal life, my obsessive personality sometimes gets in my way. I knew that if I wanted to be able to return to as normal a life as is possible, I would need some help to quit having the health issues as the main thing on my mind. It may not be easy because the AIH will not go away. I can't pretend that maybe I don't really have AIH as I have so often done over the years when my lupus was in full remission. However, I do believe it is possible to still enjoy life and do all the things I enjoy doing. I have a feeling that I am really going to enjoy working with this psychologist. Dealing with chronic pain and/or illness is tough mentally as well as physically. A few years ago I thought only a week person would need anti-depressants or help from a counselor. I have come to realize that the person who is the weakest is the one who does not seek help when they need it. Hang in there, W

Guest guest
where are you at are you in florida? I am moving out of my house here in floral city florida, its in the country and will be available for rent on the first. its close to inverness and homasassa springs and crystal river area. the rent here is 700 a month but everything is inc even cable, only thing you pay for is phone and internet. email me privately if you need the landlords number its a nice house. not perfect but nice its 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, one floor home, lori -- help! We have a situation here and I need whatever help/advice anyone might be able to give. My husband and I both have Hep C. His has gone into cirrhosis/esophageal varices. He is on Peg right now just had his 9th shot. My Hep C is chronic, my husband is on SSD, I am in the process of getting SSI. We have exhausted our resources. Last year our Doctors told us we needed to move closer, as we were not getting the treatment we needed where we were. The area we live in now (SF Bay Area) is expensive, we managed to stay afloat till now. The bottom is falling out financially. We need to move and have no place to go. In addition our landlady has now become threatening and abusive. I have been on this for two weeks straight. I am not well, and cannot do this alone. The agencies I've contacted are of no help. Legal Aid would be happy to set us up for an appointment next month. The landlady has actually listed the property and somehow thinks she can just toss us out and move somebody else in, with no legal proceeding. Of course we don't want to stay under these conditions, but need a minute to catch our breath and find something else. Last Sunday she forced her way into the home, telling us she was here to show it , with one hour's notice by phone when she'd been told no. I'm posting here because I know others must have had similar situations with being ill. Ideas? Comments? Feedback? Kelli

Guest guest
Kelli, I *really* don't know anything about this, but I had a thought. Does your State's Attorney's office have a civil division? I know it varies from state to state. I was just thinking of something that happened here last year. A single mom with 6 kids was renting a house that was really in bad repair, so she stopped paying the rent. The owner (a judge, no less!) was trying to evict her for nonpayment, and the State's Attorney's office went to bat for the woman because it would take time for her to find a place she could afford with 6 kids. It took a long time, but the court ordered the judge to fix the house and the woman could stay there. Maybe they would go to bat for you, too. Just a thought. Marilyn help! Guest guest
Kelli, First of all, that landlady can't just toss you out on your rear with no legal proceedings. Her trying to sell it could cause you more problems though. Can you go to the Housing Division and see about getting on a housing list? With you both not working, you may qualify for Housing in California. Do you know who your Congressman is in your area? If not, give me your zip code and I'll find out for you. Then I'll email you some more information, OK? LeighAnn

Pedialite is a good electrolyte replacement but her main problem right now is the Depression - I use Cannabis to distract me from all the stress but maybe she will do better on something else. Guest guest
Thanks Carol, There's little chance my Mother would try cannabis now, I think she would feel like she was "bad" and that would maybe depress her more. Guest guest
Hello, sounds like me when I moved to North Carolina. Some doctors just do not comprehend that we know when we are not up to par. I finally sat in the doctors office and cried and cried and told her that I was so depressed.. I just had to have a break down right there in front of her. She finally realized that Yes!!! There is something wrong.. and she checked my levels and OMG... I was sooooooooooo out of wack... took a while to get things back to norm. but finally did.. Now I do not sleep 24/7 and I am not having those horrible mood swings that would scare the devil. Not sure if this responds to your questions. I just know how you feel. Been there. Don't want to be there again. Also I am on synthroid, seems to work for me as long as I take it on an empty stomache and in the morning.. ohhh.. I have to exercise too.. Yeah.. no getting around that. Makes you hate them skinny girls who eat everything and don't gain a pound... without exercising on top of that.. Well I hope you feel a little better knowing that someone else out here has felt the same.. I am sure this group will give you great advice. They seem to know a lot about these level things..
