Guest guest
Val it sounds like you need adrenal hormones. Maybe you can get some help from Durrant Peatfield MD. Also there is a guy in France Dr. Nabet who works with Hertoghe from Belgium and does consults in London. Gracia > > Hi, > > I am in the U.K. and taking synthetic levothyroxine. Guest guest
Hi Gracia, I am already seeing a private doc who is a contemporary of Dr Durrant Peatfield, who himself is considered something of a maverick in medical circles, because he treats symptoms, just like Dr Peatfield. You are probably right about adrenals, but I do not want to fall out with my current private doc by going to see someone else at the same time. However, Peatfield does hold a clinic in a city not too far from where I currently live, if I feel my present private doc ought to consider adrenal support, but wont for any reason, I just might make the trip to see Dr Peatfield for further medical appraisal. Many Thanks. Lastly you are very knowledgeable about your condition, we all need to get this to this point! Keep posting, I enjoy the read!!! Guest guest
Thanks Val. Adrenal treatment makes a huge difference for many of us. I have needed every adrenal hormone there is, well not aldosterone, and suffered a lot for many years. Now I know these hormones are cheap and easy to use but not easily obtained b/c they are bio-identical and cannot be patented. Follow the money! Guest guest
Hi , what is the most T3 you have taken? Doing 's cycles cured my depression and I was up to 150 mcg (??) per day at the peak of the cycle- I know there are many different causes for depression so T3 may not be your answer, but I was amazed at this acidental result. Guest guest
I really feel for you Val - but there is hope! You can get better. The normal dose of T3 for 200mcg of T4 would be more like 40 per day - but it varies for the person and also the type of T3. Have you read http://www.wilsonssyndrome.com - it is a really excellent site - check out the symptoms list. Even if you are not reasy to do such a protocol the info is very useful. I tried antidepressants, diet, herbs meditation, progesterone, DHEA, I went for a walk everytime I felt really down (if I could) etc etc with no relief (of course they all helped a bity probably cept the antidepressants they made me worse) but the high dose T3 made a huge difference in a week or so. I have read that taking a high dose of T4 without enough t3 can worsen depression as well. What are you test results for Free T4 and Free T3 and TSH? Now I agree with you about the years to heal adrenals and thyroid - but the depression was magically gone! It was mostly chemical. Kerry Re: help! Guest guest
Hi Kerry Ann, I do believe my depression is simply bio chemical and not 'true' depression if you know what I mean, that is why I have resisted going back on anti-depressants. Can you remember where you read about the T3 to T4 ratio, and yes I have heard of 's Sydrome, I subscribe to their website I find it very informative. If I can dig out my test results I will post them. Val help! > > > > > > > > > > > > > I need some answers, please! About 2 1/2 months ago I was put on > > > armour for hypothyroid. Guest guest
Hi Val - what did you think of the protocol? Do you have a lot of the synptoms? The T4/t3 ration is pretty universal - that is roughly what you get in nature and Armour is about that ratio as well. I'll see if I can find a source. If you didn't try 's is there a reason? have you read Gails thuroid tips - excellent site http://personal.bellsouth.net/w/u/wurmstei/Peatfield_Suggest.htm This is Thyroid and Bi-polar with links - http://www.psycheducation.org/thyroid/introduction.htm I didn't bookmark the early sites I found on depression and T3 but there have been a few obscure trials - you could try a google on it. I have been free of depression for nearly two years now - I still have a lot of other symptoms but they are so much easier to deal with without being depressed. Kerry Re: help! Guest guest
Hi Kerry, As far as 's Syndrome goes it sounds logical to me, but I wonder about it 'resetting' your thyroid clock so to speak, after a few cycles only. In the U.K. we seem to be in the dark ages as far as the thyroid is concerned. If you have doc's who suggest: 1) buy T4 off the internet and treat your self! 2) doc's who don't go beyond the lab tests that tell them normal, because they themselves are clueless 3) doc's who say 'I can't tell you anything about the thyroid' when you complain of thyroid fatigue (apparently they stopped teaching doc's about the thyroid in 1975) What chance would I stand telling a doc about 's Syndrome? I would be laughed at and treated scornfully for daring to bring a new idea to their attention. My symptoms correlated with all the usual thyroid symptoms: Thin brittle hair (lost over ten years) - still no better soft finger nails - still no better dry cracked heels - MUCH better chronic fatigue - still with me depression - still with me - very crushing at times brain fog/forgetfulness -still with me, occasionally better slow heart beat - variable slow pulse - variable joint pain - stiffness, and makes me feel a million years old bloated - had a great slimmer profile for all of a month loss of eyebrows - again over ten years I pencil them in every day loss of pubic/underarm hair - told that this was because I am perimenopausal, no tests done of course! changes to my menstrual cycle - shorter and heavier cold hands and ice cold feet there's more, but I wont bore you.... I believe I have a secondary autoimmune condition which is Sjogren's syndrome of dry eyes and dry mouth. I have so little moisture in my eyes when I fall asleep my eyeballs stick to the inside of my eyelids. I will go onto the websites you suggested and satisfy my quest for further knowledge I am a sucker for a good read! Many Thanks, and God Bless. Guest guest
Hello Kerry, The one 'good doc I found was through Shomon's site at About.com in the U.S.A. Yesterday was a dark cloud day and today. The G.P.at my local practice who I thought was enlightened turns out not to be. In the U.K. you get all your prescriptions free if you have hypo thyroidism. She tells me while she is ready to prescribe thyroxin, she cannot sign the form for me to get my prescriptions free as my tests done through the surgery were normal! Truth be told I went outside the N.H.S to get my diagnosis done privately, I had no choice so I am being penalised financially for trying to get myself well. The situation sucks but I am not going to simply accept what she has said. I will check out the web addresses you gave me. Stoke on Trent is not too far from me. Many Thanks, & Cheers, Val help! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I need some answers, please! About 2 1/2 months ago I was put on > > > > > armour for hypothyroid. Guest guest
Thanks, Gracia! How are you taking your hormones? I'm taking 120 GM of testoserone gel a day. Makes your 20 MG dose sound kind of puny. I'm taking bioidentical progesterone at 30 GM cream doses. bi-est at 1.25 GM thanks and much love, Pamela Gracia <circe@...> wrote: Hi, sorry I forgot to answer this. Guest guest
Pam this doesn't sound right. I think bi-est might be right at 1.25MG (which is too low a dose). Progesterone 30 MG is an OTC dose. But 120mg of testosterone should be making you sick, especially with such low doses of the others. For many years I was paying a huge amount for hormones that were too low dose. Gracia > > Thanks, Gracia! > > How are you taking your hormones? > I'm taking 120 GM of testoserone gel a day. Guest guest
OK!! You are taking bi-est 2X a day? My bi-est was 2.5mg taken 2X a day, morning and night. It was still too little estrogen for me, since estradiol is the most potent form of estrogen. Now I am getting 2.25mg estradiol taken in a.m. You should be getting 100mg progesterone 2X a day too, if you are only getting 100mg that is too little. And would cause the symptoms you describe. I am taking 250mg progesterone in pm. Hi , sorry to hear you have had to join our little group:-( I have no experience with Enbrel, but I do live in Florida. About a half hour of treading water and just floating around really seems to help. Might bring you some relief while you figure out the right meds. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. Glad you could join us but obviously I am sorry you had to. Snap, on the year P arrived. 1980 for me too although it was '87 that the PA hit. I just started on Enbrel about three months ago too. I seem to be making slow but definite progress with it. Hopefully it will work well for you eventually. Some people seem to have almost instant results with it, some it takes a little longer but it seems to help more people than it doesn't if you know what I mean. Keep us updated on your progress (hopefully) if you can. Good luck,

I have been told that it may take two months before it helps, but I am becoming impatience. I continue to hear good things about enbrel, but am worried that it will not work for me. I would love to hear from those who could give me some incite, good or bad. Mahalo, Hi , I hope you are successful with the Enbrel. There are many here who so much better because of it. I am one of the few who it did not help. I gave it six months and then went off. I am considering trying Remicade soon. I have been watching my diet and felt better for a while but it seems I am in pain again. I would give yourself a chance and try it for a while longer. What does your rheumy say? Guest guest
I really love this little list that someone posted recently: http://www.annboroch.com/candida.htm. It really has a good grocery list, and list of no no foods. I really recommend going to your local health market and filling your cart with a gorgeous array of green veggies and acceptable alternative grains and fresh, nonsteroidal, nonhormonal meats and breath in the healthy lifestyle. It feels really good to bring home nothing but good stuff, although learning to cook it was not the fun part for me. I did finally leaern to develop a relationship with the cook at the deli counter, who told me how to season and prepare certain veggies. It does help to develop relationships with people who are on your diet, or better yet, who are more disciplined than you, and can be encouraging. > > > I need a shopping list for getting started on and eliminating the > right and wrong foods. > Amber

Can you share your tips for cooking veggies? I'm a lousy cook but learning. I also love to BBQ all my meat on my grill.. really adds to the flavor.
