I kept my son in his band for a few extra nights after he graduated from it.

He got so use to the band that he had a hard time sleeping without it. The

ortho said that it was fine to do this but to discontinue use as soon as we

saw any red spots that would indicate that the band was not fitting.

Wearing Band Post-Graduation

Has anyone here kept their baby in the band after the official graduation

date? If so, how long did they continue to wear it and what wearing

schedule did you follow (e.g., only for sleeping, etc.)? How did you know

when it was time to discontinue use altogether?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I plan on keeping it until I think it doesn't fit any longer. From: rharvell <rharvell@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Mon, April 4, 2011 11:19:40 AMSubject: Wearing Band Post-Graduation

My son is getting ready to graduate from his Starband in about 2 weeks and they want us to put him in it for night wear only. They said that when he starts waking up with red marks then it's time to discontinue the helmet. So I guess we will see how long that lasts. I know they plan on doing one last scan on his last appointment and they will give him alittle more room (not much left at all). We were told to expect anywhere from a week to a month of wear depending on his growth. Due to the lack of foam left I doubt we will make it more than two weeks, but I think we will continue to put him in for nighttime (sleep) for as long as the helmet will allow.

considering my daughter has worn the same pretty much exact helmet she started with I'm not afraid of squeezing her brain too tight :P However, she broke out in a horrible forehead rash so it's off anyway. We exit in a couple weeks.
