Guest guest
I don't know why, but everytime I think of you that's what I call you in my mind. Like a little teddy bear. You're right, I did miss your post a couple of days back, I just went back and read it. I am so happy that you're eating. I was telling Cori that over Labor Day weekend I felt so guilty everytime I ate something because all I could think was about you having a hard time. I'm hoping to convince my OD to okay having my splint removed the end of the month. I don't know if this is going to happen now with this break. On Friday I have an appointment with my OS and will ask him if we have to put off my OD appointment, which is next Monday, until the break heals. I get to go on a cruise, to the Bahamas, WHOO HOO!, in the beginning of October. The food on a cruise is supposed to be awesome, I've never been before, and so I definitely want to enjoy it to the full. I've been training myself though, the past week or so, to eat in public without getting food stuck in my teeth and splint. I still don't have full feeling back, but in my chin I am starting to get what my OS calls diminished sensation. I am beginning to feel when something is cold on my chin, and one day when it began to itch, I scratched, and could feel it in a tiny little spot. Honestly, the numbness doesn't really bother me anymore. I have fun with it sometimes. On our camping trip a bunch of friends were all daring eachother to touch their tongues to an electric flyswatter (I don't know if you've seen them, but they're a blast!), and I piped up and said I would stick my tongue to it, after all my tongue has no feeling! I didn't do it, but it got a laugh from everyone. And without realizing it, I've gained the majority of the feeling back in my tongue. How is your lip and chin doing? Have you regained much feeling? Also, did you have any numbness in your tongue? I don't recall talking to anyone else who did. Take care. Connie
Guest guest
Hey Connie, thanks for replying. I always look forward to hearing updates from you. I hope you are progressing more and more each day. My numbness is still pretty much the same. Nope, I never had a problem with my tongue, just chin and bottom lip. I have felt itches and shocks since surgery, but it's still pretty much numb. I guess you could say a little bit of the right side of my chin has " diminished sensation " because when I touch it, it kinda tickles. -Ash (p.s. if you ever want to e-mail me, please feel free! ashleebear05@...)
