Guest guest
Hi Chelsea, I also have RSS, am less than 5 feet tall (I'm almost 4'8 " ), done growing (I'm 28), but happy with myself. So we have lots in common! Wanted to let you know that there's a RSS-People yahoogroup for people with RSS (this website is primarily parents of RSS kids) -- feel free to join us there! Oh, and I'm not up on the most recent research, but I don't think anyone really knows why or how we got RSS. Just a genetic mix-up when we were made! Nobody did anything wrong or could have done anything differently... Hopefully they'll do more research about the genetics in the next few years so we can know more! Nice to meet you! -Ana
Guest guest
Welcome Chelsea, My daughter was born small and we are going thru the process to see if she has RSS. From what i gather it's a genetic problem that some people are born with. Nothing the mother or father did brought this on... It's just one of those things. I would like to welcome you to the group and I would enjoy hearing your story. How old are you now? Where do you live? Nice to meet you, Pickett --- angelmouse1989 wrote: > Hi my name is Chelsea and i have RSS. > My parents first found out when i came over here > from England when i was 9 months old. > i don't exctly get what it is or how it comes to > happen to people! > i'm old enough now to understand the taunts that > people say to me about being shorter > but i've decided to be happy with myself, i'm not > even five foot & i wont be growing > anymore. if anyone out there can help me understand > how i came to get RSS i would much > appreciate it. > thankyou > > > > __________________________________ Yahoo! Guest guest
Hi Chelsea!! Welcome to the group!! As Ana posted, there is another group of people with RSS, called amazingly enough RSS People! LOL But please don't think that you're not welcome to post here anytime! We parents/g-parents loved to hear from people who have already experienced what our children/g-children might. As I understand things, RSS is considered a genetic anomaly, meaning that it happens sporadically without known cause. There is nothing that can be done, or not done, that will prevent it. It is rarely found twice in the same family, although it can happen. RSS seems to come from the maternal side, and the one family that I've heard of with 2 RSS children, the children have the same mother, but different fathers. That would support the maternal theory. I hope this helps somewhat. You could also try visiting the website of the MAGIC Foundation. This is the only Foundation with an RSS Division, and they have lots of information. You'll find them at www.magicfoundation.org Again, welcome aboard!! Guest guest
Hi Chelsea! My name is Hillary, I'm 23 and I also have RSS. As Ana and a few others have told you, there is also a yahoo group specifically for people with RSS called RSS People. The process for subscription to that group is the same as this one. Anyway, it's nice to meet you and I hope to see you soon on the RSS People group. Let me know if I can do anything else for you - my email address is hillaryjorgensen@ yahoo.com (no space). ~Hillary 23, RSS --- angelmouse1989 wrote: > Hi my name is Chelsea and i have RSS. > My parents first found out when i came over here > from England when i was 9 months old. > i don't exctly get what it is or how it comes to > happen to people! > i'm old enough now to understand the taunts that > people say to me about being shorter > but i've decided to be happy with myself, i'm not > even five foot & i wont be growing > anymore. if anyone out there can help me understand > how i came to get RSS i would much > appreciate it. > thankyou > > > > __________________________________ Start your day with Yahoo! - Make it your home page! http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs
Guest guest
Hi, Sorry for the questions - how old are you? Where are you from? Do you see an endocrinologist? Are you taking growth hormones? My daughter Emerence is SGA (small for gestational age) which is pretty much RSS without the triangular face. She is 33 months old and 32 " and 22lbs. We are here to help! ARe your parents going to join this board too? There is also a group just for RSS adults/teens I think called RSS People... > > Hi my name is Chelsea and i have RSS. > My parents first found out when i came over here from England when i was 9 months old. > i don't exctly get what it is or how it comes to happen to people! > i'm old enough now to understand the taunts that people say to me about being shorter > but i've decided to be happy with myself, i'm not even five foot & i wont be growing > anymore. if anyone out there can help me understand how i came to get RSS i would much > appreciate it. > thankyou >

Guest guest
hey there, i'm 16 and i live in NewZealand i think i'm one of only five yound adults here who actually has this condition in New Zealand I was asked me when i was about 10 or 11 years old if i would like to take growth hormones but decided against it when i heard that there was 4/5 of a chance that i would get diabetes. I used to go to the hospital every threee months to get weighed and to see how much i would grow in that amount of time, i don't go anymore but my doctor was the head of RSS research. xoxoxoxoMousie xoxoxoxoxo Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com
