Guest guest
Hi , I answered your post about breathing and keeping the nose clean on site 2. As for yoga, I think it's ok to do it at this point, but you should not do any postures where your head is down, like downward-dog, for example. Plus, don't do any balancing postures, since the anaesthesia takes awhile to clear out of your system - you can easily get dizzy and lose your balance (you don't want to hit your jaws). So I'd stick to the postures close to the floor - there's lots of them! I think it was week 6 when I went back to yoga class, but I still took it easy for quite awhile. Since I had genio, I was really careful about putting my chin on the ground doing sun salutations, for example. > I had a leforte 1 on Wednesday as some of you know. Guest guest
Thanks for both responses . I have another question or two: Should attempting to speak be kept to a minimum, so as not to disturb the jaw aligment? Also, at any point did you use heat? > > I had a leforte 1 on Wednesday as some of you know. I had a couple > of > > shakes today and some soup and everything is moving along slowly but > > surely. Guest guest
Yes, I forgot to mention - I minimized talking, mainly because it made my jaw muscles very sore. I used my whiteboard a lot. Even after 5 weeks, when I went back to work, my muscles were sore. You wouldn't be trying to do leg lifts after you'd had a broken leg, even if it was casted, would you? The jaw muscles are quite powerful, actually, capable of pulling things back to their pre-surgery positions. It's why my surgeon bands instead of wires - it allows the jaw muscles a bit of leeway to get used to their new positions. No heat. Ever. I was told by my massage therapist that it would only draw fluids to the swollen areas, and that's not what you want. But, some surgeons do suggest it - Cammie's did, for example. > > > I had a leforte 1 on Wednesday as some of you know.
