With the cold weather approching....well my mind and taste buds went that way.. I have a jambalaya, of sorts, using lentils instead of rice. I have some good fish stews, but nothing really gumbo-ish, because we can't have okra, and file-powder is a starch, as far as I can tell. I do have a dynamite oyster and artichoke bisque! — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle

Guest guest
I am well aware that it is not legal... The base of it is roux and that is made with flour...never mind the okra and file... That is why I asked her if she had come up with something close to it.. No roux, either.... although, toasted sesame oil adds an interesting flavor to things which helps. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
