Guest guest
Hi Dennis I am 13 days post op and was wondering how your swelling and your numbness is going. I had the same op as you plus my chin and gummy smile. > > Hey everyone, > > > > I am having upper jaw surgery (3-piece lefort, palate expansion, and all > > wisdom teeth taken out) on October 3rd. Guest guest
Hi Clare, I'm having surgery on 10/3, too! The sugery will be upper and BSSO, and it will hopefully cure my obstructive sleep apnea. I'm getting really nervous, but I'm just trying to stay busy and not think too much about it. Where do you live? MTB Molly > Hey everyone, > > I am having upper jaw surgery (3-piece lefort, palate expansion, and all > wisdom teeth taken out) on October 3rd. Guest guest
Hi . Well the swelling is just about gone on the outside but my inside is still swelled queit a bit. As for the numbness I was one of the lucky one's and had none. Other than that just missing my favorite foods. How are doing? Guest guest
Hi Dennis, I am doing really good, but I have a lot of numbness. My surgeon made a mistake and had to cut my right side twice, so I am pretty swollen still on my right side compared to my left, and I don't know whether that is the reason I am so numb, I have the nose, cheeks, lips and chin which is all numb and I find it frustrating. I am eating ok though. I had a lovely fish with mash potatoes last night for dinner and that went really well, so I am managing ok. I can not afford to loose weight as I am already on the low side, so I am trying to eat well. Also mince seems to be ok to eat as long as its in small proportions and its very tender. Have you got bands in your mouth? I can't wait to take mine off I know i to hold your bite to reduce the chances of the jaw residing back, but its hard. I am also having problems with talking, I guess that will be because of the numbness in my mouth still. How come you have no numbness at all? > > > > Hey everyone, > > > > > > > > I am having upper jaw surgery (3-piece lefort, palate expansion, > > and all > > > > wisdom teeth taken out) on October 3rd. Guest guest
Hi Clare, I'm just a couple of days before you. Mine is 9/29 -- this Thursday. So we'll be very close together in the healing process, anyway. I'm having upper and lower done, but don't know the specifics because my OS will be deciding what is best as he goes along. (Sounds scary, but I trust him). I plan to keep in touch here during recovery if I am able, which I can't imagine that I won't be. I'm also online through Yahoo IM, so feel free to drop me a line if you like. ~

Guest guest
Thanks! I've actually been indulging in all kinds of bad things for the past month, so while it's been good, I think my body might actually like the break of having to deal with liquids and soft foods only, hehe. And hopefully I can lose these extra pounds I've put on by pigging out! ~
Guest guest
I did the same and I lost 5 kgs in the first 10 days. Keep enjoying your food until wednesday. > Thanks! > > I've actually been indulging in all kinds of bad things for the past > month, so while it's been good, I think my body might actually like > the break of having to deal with liquids and soft foods only, hehe. > And hopefully I can lose these extra pounds I've put on by pigging > out! > > ~
Guest guest
Hello Again . Well I am not sure. I do have just a smidge around my nose but that is it. Occording to my Surgeon I should have it in my lower lip as he said he really had to work to get my nerve adjusted right. They moved my lower jaw 8mm forward and widened my upper 4mm. But with no numbness I had a ton more of pain. The pain has subsided alot now on day 10. And yes I am full of rubber bands. I hate them. They seem to catch on my lips and rub them raw. By the way when the OD did my lower jaw he had to put screws in from the ouside so I had stiches on my cheeks. No big deal for a guy. They are small anyway. I to am trying to eat good although I lost about 9lbs already due to having a bout of Diareha due to the antibiotic. Sorry for being so graphic. Anyway if you want you can always drop me a line through email if ya want. Its kd8ait@... Guest guest
Hey , Good luck with your surgery. Keep the nurses busy taking good care of you. Let us know how everything goes. I'm sure you'll do great. ~Rene > Thanks! > > I've actually been indulging in all kinds of bad things for the past > month, so while it's been good, I think my body might actually like > the break of having to deal with liquids and soft foods only, hehe. > And hopefully I can lose these extra pounds I've put on by pigging > out! > > ~
Guest guest
Thanks Rene! I've got so much going on between now and Thursday that it hardly seems I have time to even worry or get nervous, except about not getting things done before I'm incapacitated (to whatever degree) for a while! If there's any way to get my laptop hooked up at the hospital, I hope to be in touch as soon as I can after surgery. If not, then I will be back home on Saturday and will update then. ~
