Guest guest
Jodi - thank you for posting this. Ian is finally turning the corner. He is finally getting a scab, the site is not as red and I caught him with his bottom up in the air in the crib this morning. He has more energy and although he has not allowed me to clean the site yet this morning (obviously I'm not insisting just yet either <grin>) - I did take a peak and it does look better. Ugh - finally. We are doing NOTHING but playing today and doing nothing. He had a suppository at the doc yesterday to help get rid of some of some bowel movement (he's been very constipated) and I think that has helped his discomfort some as well. He was in a lot of discomfort yesterday while passing his bowels - but, he felt much better after each passing. Ian is 23 lbs 2 oz!!! So, now I'm going to have to write some letters to his Endo and GI doc and remind them about early adrenarche, and insulin resistance with our kids so that we can develop a plan on how much calories Ian REALLY needs and focus on a healthy plan for him. I think I want to start feeding him solids at lunch and dinner again and bolus whatever calories " left " he needs. So, this weekend, I will be writing that letter and hopefully we will have a good plan for Ian's caloric intake. I also need to see where he falls on the charts as far as weight to height and see what percentile he is currently in and where he should be. He looks SO good right now and I know once he starts getting more active again - he will probably level off with the weight. He's been pretty non-active for over a week now. He's definitely more active today! Thanks so much everyone for your concern. It means a lot to me. - H > > I'm on the phone with right now. I'll let her fill in the > details, but Ian is better. Guest guest
, I am so glad he is doing better. That constipation is a real curse for our kids. is currently experiencing this himself. I will be leaving today to get the Zelnorm and Benefiber and hoping this helps him. I think you are on the right track with wanting to go ahead and give Ian solids. See how well he eats and if he doesn't eat as wee as he should bolus only half of what you would normally give him or something. I am sure others on here would be able to help you out there better than I would. But, you are right in wanting to monitor his weight closely. Get a weight for height chart and keep track of where he is. If he starts getting a belly that looks like a balloon, decrease waht you are giving him through his tube. Ugh, it is very hard and so frustrating, but I think you will learn as you go. And, you can take it from me. Don't let him get too chubby! Ugh. Dr. H. gave me 's weight and height in kg and cm so I need to translate that so I can see where he is right now. But, obviously too big. I think Ian is about 's height, so I'll let you know what I come up with. JR > > > > I'm on the phone with right now. I'll let her fill in the > > details, but Ian is better. Guest guest
Jodi - great - that would be awesome. Ian's thighs are looking a little chunky! I love it! LOL We are using miralax for the constipation and I'm going to try prune juice too - putting it right through the tube - I actually love the tube when it comes to having to give him medicines. It's so much easier than fighting with him and he's so good about it now. Glad you are feeling better. Talk to you soon. - H > > > > > > I'm on the phone with right now.
