CT vs. Star vs. Hanger and United HealthCare

My son is about to graduate from his DOC Band next week after 14 weeks of

treatment and they are recommending a second band. I am still fighting with UHC

for payment on the first band (it was denied due to an exclusion in the policy

under Durable Medical Equipment). My question is - does anyone have UHC and was

successful in getting them to pay for your child's band? If you were successful

in getting UHC to pay for it which company did you use - CT, Star or Hanger?

We were not successful in getting UHC to pay for our band either. However we

have the STAR band and in Michigan it seems to be much less expensive- $1600 out

of pocket. I was told by our orthotist that babies with the STAR band are less

likely to need a second band because there is more foam to work with than the

DOC band. I would probably go for the STAR band due to that but Not sure what

the prices are in your area... Lesley
