Tylenol is acetaminophen. It's possible to get acetaminophen compounded, nothing but the acetaminophen. I got a prescription from, of all people, my dentist. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
Yvette,If your son can tolerate SCD yogurt, mix 2 tablespoons of cold-pressed flaxseed oil into about 1/2 cup of yogurt. Let sit for 5 minutes and then have him eat it. People here have been discussing it lately so I tried it with my maid who has RA and even after the first dose (at evening), the next morning she didn't hurt as much and by the next day she was really excited because she didn't need her pain medication. The oil is high in Omega 3 fatty acids and helps with inflammation (as well as eyesight, joints/ligaments, and brain function). It is a very delicate oil and must be stored in a dark bottle in a refrigerator. Someone else also suggested 1 teaspoon of cinnamon with a spoonful of organic honey on an empty stomach in the morning and right before bed. This is a very long acting remedy, but the person who recommended it said that within 90 days, there should be great improvement and that if continued for 4-5 years, even the worst arthritis has been resolved completely. Am going to try this next with her to see if it adds additional improvement. AmeliaP.S. I now live in India and they are very big on Ayurvedic medicine. Also, a combination of turmeric and bromelain is really good for inflammation (reduced inflammation will also reduce pain). To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Mon, October 11, 2010 8:27:39 AMSubject: Arthritis and children's tylenol on SCD My son, age 8, has CD and arthritis associated with it. We have been on the diet for 5 weeks. After a week on the diet, his cramping was getting better, and his fever was gone, his arthritis was doing better. About 3 weeks into the diet he had a terrible flare of the arthritis. His fevers are back, his stomach cramping is still not as bad as it was,and the arthritis is terrible, but it started after he had 2nd physical therapy session (1st was discussion). I am so discouraged because I was hoping to avoid prednisone and other meds. But I hate seeing him suffering for almost a year now (took 10 months to get diagnosis.) He has to take children's tylenol, to manage the arthritis pain. Is there any alternative to the children's tylenol. even the adult formula has starch in it? Thanks, yvette
Guest guest
Like Marilyn said, it is possible to get tylenol compounded. I asked my GI and he wrote a prescription: Take 1 capsule by mouth as needed every 6 hours Qty: 100 Acetaminophen 284mg capsule -Joanna ________________________________ > > To: BTVC-SCD > Sent: Mon, October 11, 2010 8:27:39 AM > Subject: Arthritis and children's tylenol on SCD > He has to take children's tylenol, to manage the arthritis pain. That works very well for my arthritis. I would think you could adjust the dose for a young child. n
