Guest guest
Hey Diane, I have an open bite and a couple of teeth are crowded in the front. My upper jaw is also really narrow and I just had a SARPE about 3 weeks ago and have an expander that I'm turning daily. I'll be having either upper or lower jaw surgery probably in the summer of next year (my surgeon isn't totally sure what jaw he wants to operate on yet). There's a bone near the back of my jaw that needs to be removed and then my teeth will align properly (well with braces and all too). Then once all that is done I might have a chin advancement too, so my face will look more proportional. I've heard if you don't need a chin advancement (like for health reasons) then you shouldn't do it. So I'm a little nervous about that but I'll worry more when the time comes for that. I haven't been in braces yet, I only have an expander (as I mentioned). My ortho/surgeon didn't say exactly when I'll have my braces but I'm thinking maybe December-ish. Those are basically all my " problems " . Thanks for the post and talk to you soon! > > - You and I are in the same boat: I'm having my surgery in > June. I have an underbite and will be having both lower and upper > surgery (BSSO to set back my mandible and LeFort 1-piece to advance > my maxilla forward and down in front). I know how scary all this is, > but it's better to learn all you can about it now; the more you know > about it, the less afraid you will be once your surgery time gets > here, and you will know what to expect both pre-op and post-op. What > type of problem do you have and what surgery are you having to fix > it? How long have you been in braces? Sounds like you and I will > be " surgery-buddies " ! Take care and try not to worry about it.~~~~ > diane (Idaho)
