Guest guest
Hi Jill, For the plate/screw removal he cut the upper gumline just like it would have been done for the first surgery. It was done at the hospital as an outpatient procedure. He didn't think he could keep me asleep/under deep enough in the office for as far up as he would have to retract to get to the plate. I had genio done and he removed that plate also that day. Swelling was minimal and there was no additional numbness. I had it done on a Thursday and went back to work on Monday. I felt that for me it took about 12 weeks to really feel good again. It was a long time to eat hard to chew foods such as steak or raw veggies. I lost 14 pounds, but then I gained it back slowly. Good Luck with everything, keep us posted. a > > > > Hello everyone, > > Just an update..Im 5 wks post op and got unwired today...Boy, did > that feel weird but good at the same time..I have rubber bands for 2 > weeks..Bands make you jaw feel more secure.
