zinc

I've seen two different sets of numbers, though. One set would show

like 60 being in normal range. The other would show numbers more like

600 being normal. And I have NO idea which is which or why one doc

orders the double digit type, and another orders the triple digit

type.

You really wanna know? You'll be sorry. Here's the complete low-

down... If you really want to impress the phlebotomist next time, as

they scratch their head wondering which tub to use, as if the doc

ordered the 945 zinc or the RBC zinc... 945 is royal blue (EDTA)

tube, RBC is lavender-top EDTA. Serum zinc goes in a royal blue (no

additive) tube. No wonder those poor gals get confused! See the test

twice a year, maybe, and there's two different ROYAL BLUE tubes!

Preferred Specimen: PATIENT PREPARATION: PATIENTS SHOULD REFRAIN
