Guest guest
Hello all, I just wanted to post and let you all know I was doing better. I had asked a question about back pain on the site and it ending up being pneumonia. So every one be careful after surgery. It felt as if I had a bad back ache. I would cry when I would move it hurt really bad. I put myself going through the pain of a chiropractor for two days straight before I said enough was enough-I was going to the doctor. They put me on heavy duty antibiotics and the back pain has gone away. By the way, the pain was only at night so I figured it was because I was sleeping on four pillows and my back was out. Everyone be careful when you home from your surgery. I came down with pneumonia on Monday which was four days after my surgery. If you feel bad back pain and are coughing it probably is something you need to take care of. Dont make the same mistake I did because then my surgeon made me get rushed to the hospital to scan my lungs for blood clots. He was really scared it may have spread into something worse. I was injected with dye and I was already sick of Iv's. Just giving you all a heads up! DRINK LOTS OF FLUIDS!!!! I was only drinking maybe one cup a day and that was a no-no. Guest guest
Great warning to all post-opers! My surgeon kept reminding me to do some breathing exercises after the surgery to prevent pneumonia. He warned me that pneumonia was a great risk after jaw surgery. He told me to take a deep breath in and hold for a few seconds and release and to keep doing this throughout the first few weeks. He also said to drink plenty of fluids! I am glad that you did catch it soon enough before you ended up back in the hospital! --Caboose > Hello all, I just wanted to post and let you all know I was doing > better. Guest guest
Preventing pneumonia and blood clots is also why they want us up and walking around as soon as possible after surgery. Walking helps your blood flow and circulation and also makes you take deeper breaths to prevent pneumonia. Coughing helps as well to keep your lungs clear and get the gunk out that builds up while you're under anesthesia. I'm glad you're feeling better! > > Hello all, I just wanted to post and let you all know I was doing > > better.
