Hi Delaine,

Yes, those are others out here who just can't get rid of that clenching

habit. I have always been a clencher pre op and at about 10 weeks post

op I started the clenching again. I contacted my OS and he informed me

that he felt at 10 weeks post op no harm would be done to the surgery

area. He did recommend me to contact my OD to see if he could come up

with a mouthguard to protect the teeth. The funny thing is that 2

weeks later the clenching has stopped. I am thinking that maybe the

crossbite and overbite that I had present after surgery may be the

reason for the temporary clenching. The banding has corrected the

crossbite and overbite. So maybe this is just a temporary thing for you

until your teeth adjust to their new position. If it gets really bad I

really would contact your OS. My OS informed me that if it gets worse

to call him as soon as possible.

Best of Luck,
