Guest guest
It started this morning with a trip to the OD for molds to see how close I am to surgery. I'm anxiously awaiting the results. My OD keeps saying late fall. The technician is new and was having a lot of trouble getting the trays out. Five tries later, she is pretty sure she got a couple good molds. Let's hope! The afternoon ended with a visit to an ENT for a look at two lumps on the side of my neck. He checked all over and said he thinks it's best to have them biopsied. So, on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. I'm going to the hospital. Needless to say, this has really put a damper on this morning's visit. I hope to have good news on both fronts next week. Thanks for listening! Guest guest
Hi Diane, I have been wondering how you have been doing and how everything is going for you in this whole process! I hope the molds reveal good news that you'll hear of soon!! (I hate waiting for 2-3 weeks for that type of thing!) I've always appreciated how supportive you were of me after my own surgery this spring.... Your story about countless molds being made reminded me of my pre-op appt: A young surgery resident conducted my preop and at one point got the mold stuck in my mouth and pulled off a band on my back molar getting in off... if the thing doesn't fit without the goop, genius... it's not gonna fit with it. THAT sucked! Oh, and he was having so much trouble, finally two more residents joined him to " help " . I felt like I was at the mercy of the three stooges! At least that girl that took your molds won't be near your mouth for surgery! After my preop I made sure with the surgeon that boygenius wasn't going to be in my mouth sawing around or anything- not that I was awake to verify, but I have to trust! Yikes! I at least had the pleasure, the day after surgery, in the hospital... my nose was packed after surgery and the packs had to be taken out which was HIGHLY unpleasant. That same resident came to do the job. Well, in my drug induced-I haven't slept or eaten for quite some time and have no strength left because I was puking all night-pathetic little head, I managed to put it together and make some smart remark that I hoped he was better at pulling out the packing (basically tampons for the nose) than he was at taking my molds. :) As you can see I still derive pleasure from that story! I will be hoping for the best for you regarding those lumps and that they are just nothing to worry about at all. I am sure that did dampen your mood.... I had a mole removed after my jaw surgery that was boarderline malignant melanoma. I just last week had the area re- excised to create wider margins and am waiting to hear the results on that. That has freaked me out- particularly being that I'm 26 and the mole isn't anywhere that is exposed to sun/uv radiation, so which of my hundreds of moles is next and how am I going to know?!? That kind of stuff is scary on a completely different level from this jaw surgery. So, I can imagine in my own way a little bit what you must be feeling and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Please let me know how everything goes both with the molds and the biopsy. Take good care, Katja > It started this morning with a trip to the OD for molds to see how > close I am to surgery.
