Hi Hassan,

Welcome to the group. You will find a lot of useful

information here, if you go ahead and read the past

posts. It can answer a lot of your posts.

As to whether you should have this surgery, I would

ask myself a couple of questions:

1. Does this problem impact the way I live my life,

the way I view myself, the way I talk, the way I eat,

the way I breath?

2. Is this surgery worth the time and expense it will

take to have it?

This is a very personnal decision. You need to really

do research on it, and really examine all aspects of

the surgery. I would also have consultations with

your Dentist/Orthodontist/Oral Surgeon, and really sit

down and talk to them about the pros/cons of the

surgery for you.

I will be having my surgery on August 11th because I

get daily headaches and semi-monthly migranes. It

also affects the way I eat - I can't chew with my

mouth closed and I tire of chewing very quickly.

There are - also times when I have to talk myself into

relaxing in order to be able to swollow - and it

affects the way I breat. If it were just for cosmetic

perposes, I probably wouldn't have it done it, because

before I got my braces back on, I only had a few mm

overbite. They have brought my overbite back to an

8mm (when I was younger I had 13mm, but they corrected

that as best they could when I was 8-10 years old),

and I will be having my lower jaw advanced 8mm.

As for Insurance, from what I have seen, BlueCross

BlueShield PPO is the best for the surgery - the BCBS

HMO does not seem to cover it. What insurance do you

have?

Also, you may want to talk to your

Dentist/Orthodontist to see if they can recommend any

Oral Surgeon to you.

Let us know what you decide.
