Guest guest
Okay.. About 2 weeks ago we got a DVR, the week after they needed to come back out because our signal was not strong enough. That was all fixed and we thought all was well... NOT.. Yesterday I was at church and when I got home told me that the cable guy was here because there was a leak that was interfering with FCC communications...Well, the leak was coming from the splitter that used to split the cable and to hook up Jed's palystation.. They gave us a splitter told us NOT to hook the playstation to it, that we have to get an A B switch,he took the old splitter! said it was very strange..... I mean we had a leak that was interfering with FCC communations?? Hello??
Guest guest
<<that is very wierd...I would be worried they weren't really cable people but I am paranoid that way. >> They were in the cable truck and everything....So, I guess it was legit...I wasn't here when it happened.. Guest guest
Hi , I do not have cable so this sounds a little strange to me. Just to make sure, I'd call the cable company to confirm that they did indeed send a repair man. I'd also ask for a better explaination of what was wrong. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) does regulate communications but only those transmitted through the air via antennas or satelittes. They do not regulate cable. If they did, then you couldn't get the playboy channel. Now maybe the regs have been update since the last time I checked several years ago and cable is now regulated by the FCC. What I suspect was happening was that you did have a splitter that had poor isolation. It was " leaking " a signal that was interfering with some amplifier along their signal path. I doubt that a play station put out a strong enough signal to go all the way back to their main office. It may have interferred with some of the other customers " down stream " from you. There are many possibilities. Still, I would call and ask why they felt compelled to come an change a a splitter. Also ask them which A/B switch they would recommend. Some models are better than others. I hope this helps. Ken M > > Okay.. About 2 weeks ago we got a DVR, the week after they needed to come back out because our signal was not strong enough.
