Guest guest
I had this problem last spring, especially when I ate formerly safe veggies. By the time I had my endoscope (and the pain was significantly less), I only had a small red spot in my stomach, but I feel certain that it was a big angry red spot when I was at my worst. My doctor suspected too much stomach acid, but I suspected LOW stomach acid was my problem. My recent experiment with taking Betaine HCl seems to bear that out. I can take 2 rather potent capsules with dinner, and not get any burning. There are a few ways you can test this. For the easiest method, go to http://www.drdebe.com/stomach-acid-assessment.html . It says: " To perform this test: mix one quarter teaspoon of baking soda in eight ounces of cold water, first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking anything except water. Drink the baking soda solution. Time how long it takes to belch. Time up to five minutes. If you have not belched within five minutes stop timing anyway. If your stomach is producing adequate amounts of hydrochloric acid you should probably belch within two to three minutes. Early and repeated belching may be due to excessive stomach acid. Belching results from the acid and baking soda reacting to form carbon dioxide gas. The Heidelberg or Gastrocap tests can be employed for confirmation of the results of this test. I probably burp only three or four times a year, and those are tiny ones. My intestinal gas apparently prefers to come out the other way... Guest guest
LOL! I think it will still work. If you have stomach acid, it can't help but react to the baking soda.
