Guest guest
It's been 12 days since my surgery took place. Without question this has been the most unpleasant experience of my life. I had a pretty serious procedure performed on me. My lower jaw was broken and pushed back while my upper jaw had to be shifted forward. Thankfully things seem to be going well. I saw my surgeon yesterday and was told everything is picture perfect. While that is great to hear I am still going through a lot of discomfort. My mouth will be unwired next Monday and I'm just wondering exactly what to expect. I'm having a real hard time with my mouth drying out and the absolutely horrible taste it leaves in my mouth. I'm hoping with my mouth unwired I'll be able to get fluids down a little easier which may prevent the dryness. Again, any feedback as to what I should expect would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance, Steve
Guest guest
Hi Steve, I am a preop so I can't give you any first hand advice, but from the posts I have seen, you will be much happier with the wires being off, or at least reduced. It seems to be a huge step for those that are wired post op, and also seems to be a turning point in the recovery process. I am sure surgery vets will post you too, but I wanted to wish you well through the recovery process and welcome you to the board. Hugs, Fran > It's been 12 days since my surgery took place. I'm hoping the removal of the wires leads to atleast some relief. I'll still have the splint across the top of my mouth for atleast another week after. The whole situation is really hard on me. I'm doing my best to get through it but sometimes I just get down. Hopefully time passes quickly.
