Guest guest
Carol There are only a few probiotic strains that Elaine felt were safe for anyone with a compromised digestive system, or impaired gut ecology. In a yogurt starter, these strains are allowed (not all of them have to be included): L. Bulgaricus, S. Thermophilus (to coagulate the milk), L. Acidophilus, L. Casei. I think only one SCD yogurt starter includes L. Casei instead of L. Acidophilus. In a supplement, L. Acidophilus (bacteria), or in some cases S. Boulardii (yeast), is recommended. The rest of the probiotic or beneficial bacteria strains that populate our bodies will arrive by other means (foods, drinks, air, etc.…) The body will work to rebalance the gut ecology once the stress on the immune system and intestinal walls is improved. In other words, we don’t necessarily need to supplement all the other microorganisms as they’ll show up regardless [grin]. Kim M. Thanks so much, Artful Carol
