Hi Austria,

Each OS is different about when they prefer having the hooks put on.

My OS had my OD put the hooks & surgical wires on 6 weeks in advance

because he stated that this allows time for the teeth to settle and

can make more accurate preparations for the surgery. Apparently when

you put the hooks and wires on your teeth do still move a slight bit

which can throw things off in the OR.

With that said, if your OS will put the hooks on a few days beofore

surgery, then I would surely agree with you in going that route. I

had no problems with the hooks after the first few days. I did take

10 pounds off with the hooks because I had to eat slower to avoid

getting food caught up in the hooks. But other than that, I adjusted

to them rather quickly and even now post op don't even know they are

there. Now if I could say the same for these bands I would be doing

good..(haha)
