Hi ,

I'm 28 with RSS and almost 4'8 " . I didn't use GH, nor did most of the

RSS adults that I know of (we're too OLD to have been offered this new-

fangled stuff! *grin*). I think your best bet would be to look at the

RSS teens nowadays.

By the way, my " little " sister is 5'6.5 " , so I figure that's a decent

guess of where I " should have " been without RSS.

sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hi ,

I'm a 30 year old RSS Adult and I'm 4'8. I did take GH for just a couple

of years, but back then it wasn't offered until I was older (I think i was in

3rd grade) so even though it did help me several inches, it didn't help as

much as it does other kids these days. It did help with other issues like

gaining weight. I don't think I would have been very tall if I didn't have RSS

because my dad is only 5'9, my mom is 5'4, but my sister is only 5'1. We

have alot of shorter people in my family.

Hey jessica i'm approx 4'3 " and 27 as with hillary i didnt take ght. Also my

brother is over 6' and my dad is about 6' and my mum is 5' and as all her

brother are on the small side for men i think i would have been nearer the 5'

mark rather than the tall end after my dad.

It's so good to be back! I missed you all, throughout the day I managed to

read all 315 emails! Anyway, I have a question, our first appt with an endo

isn't until Jan 11th, and could find this out later, but I'm really curious if

anyone knows what this means. A report I recently got in the mail from our

geneticist says, " Although catch-up growth often occurs during adolescence, the

final height is still less than normal ( -3.6 SD ). " I've since been told by

Dasia's PT, the SD is standard deviation, and she guessed that the -3.6 is

possibly inches below what is considered average height. Anyone know for sure?

If so, would this standard be considered " with " the use of GH? Can any RSS

adults possibly answer, that even with GH, height sometimes still does not get

close to 5ft? I understand if this might be too personal, but I just have no

clue, if some of you, most of you, or any of the adults who post have had GHT,

or if it wasn't widely used when you were children. Or, if there is

an average final height for girls who get GHT? I thought since you have the

adult site RSS People, that you may have some answers. Just when I think I'm

starting to get things figured out, I realize how little I actually know about

RSS! Especially since it has taken so long to get in to see an endo, which will

hopefully answer so much more about Dasia's prognosis. I feel there is nothing

wrong with small, in fact, I've become very partial to small! As I'm sure we all

have! I would just feel better if I knew what to expect.

BTW, I just want to say, the confidence, and intelligence that has been shown

by the RSS adults here, makes me that much more proud to be the parent of an RSS

child. I think to defeat the trials that RSS brings, makes for a much stronger,

even more capable, fighter on the inside of you. I love hearing from all of you,

and hope you continue to join us, and post here!

Hi ,

I never had growth hormone. It was offered to me when I was about ten or so,

but for a number of reasons, we decided not to try it. I think most of the

RSS adults I've talked to have similar stories/experiences, although I can't

say that with absolute certainty.

My adult height is 4'2 " , and I'm not sure I would have been that tall if I

hadn't had RSS. My parents are both short (my mom is 5'2 " and my dad is 5'4 " ).

My non-rss brother is the giant in our family at 5'6 " , which I don't think is

short but is apparently still below the average for men (or so the doctor says,

but I have a hard time believing that).

I think there is a formula for figuring out what your child's adult height

would be without RSS, but I'm not sure what it is (maybe Jenn S. or Jodi Z.

could help out with that?).

Sorry none of us have better answers!

Hi Hillary,

You guys answered my question fully! I just had been thinking that maybe

sometimes, those who used GH still might not have reached a desired height, that

others with the same treatment would have. Or to put in more simply, trying to

find out if GH always does it's job with RSS! Thank you all so much. You've been

a great help. Happy Holidays!
