Guest guest
They go way back looking for pre-existing depending on the company. They also constantly call your doctors for updates but you should always opt-in for ltd at work. They approved me, dropped me for six to eight months--approve me again (as I was trying to get by and see the doctors, etc.) then if I couldn't afford the tests and medicine, they put 'non-compliant' until you get picked up by insurance again. My employer 'fired' and re-hired me three times. I finally had to walk away. It's insane what they put you through. Just saying,,,it's not an easy road to take. Once you get on Federal--(Texas doesn't have state benefits) it's very hard to find a gastro doc who takes Medicaid/Medicare who also knows a thing about Crohn's Disease. Mine tells me to go see " the expert " in Galveston and I live in Houston. Some ltd require you to get copies of all records going back to day one. When you are extremely ill and are required to seek counseling (company rules), all your other doctor appointments and tests, get copies of all your records and answer all their phone calls, it is like another full-time job. Just FYI depending on the company, ltd and state you live in I guess. You need to find out 'everything' before you do this if possible. It seems like something you're thrown into rather than choose imho. I have applied for disability through my employer and they determined I have a loss of earnings due to the disease. It is very hard to qualify for any state coverage but if you are employed you probably have coverage that you may not know about because you don't pay for the premiums. Most employers offer group ltd and if you have had a loss of time and earnings due to fatigue, urgency, stomach pain or frequent bathroom trips you should qualify. Did you ask your hr person about the group plan? > > Hi everyone,> > Sorry everyone, this is sort of off topic from SCD. I have been an SCD follower > for a long time. Guest guest
In Louisiana .. the only short term disability is through an employer .. IF offered and IF paid into it by yourself.. Such as maternity leave.. Then becareful when filing taxes.. That income in different.. If I remember right.. you of course can't use it towards the Earned Income Credit.. Because the money was not Earned..Yet I think I had to pay FICA out of it... My sister was in ICU and on the vent for a month and out of work for 3 months.. She got nothing because of no short term disability policy through her work and nothing is offered for short term by federal or state..
