Guest guest
Hi everyone, I went in for braces a few weeks ago. I had the new molds made and sent in, and will have the braces hopefully installed on Sept 8th. My OD did mention that I may have to have my regular dentist do a build up on the back teeth and lower teeth so that the braces brackets don't sheer off. Has anyone else had to do this? Apparently this is due to my excessively deep bite. I paid my down payment, and begin the next 18 months of payments (interst free, that is why I chose this rather than upfront payment) for the braces. That seems to be a good deal to me! Anyway, I hope the braces can be put on the 8th, and then a quick trip to the dentist to have the buildups. I am getting anxious to get started. I have been on vacation, then home, then back on a few days of vacation! lol I have missed the board, and don't know how I will ever catch up. I am sorry if I missed your surgery day. I hope all went well for you. Will watch for new posts to try and catch up. Hugs, Fran
Guest guest
Fran - WooHoo! Congratulations - you will soon be " enjoying " the new and different sensations of having braces! I've had mine for 3 weeks now and they really aren't too bad once you get used to having a full mouth of metal and adjusting to the chores of eating and oral hygiene. Enjoy your last few days of " Cuisine Freedom " ! September 6th is my very first adjustment. I had to visit my OD's office today as I had been playing phone tag with the receptionist over a few future appointments and felt I needed to resolve it in person. After she changed a few of my appointments, she told me to go visit my OD who was in the adjustment room (a big room with several dental chairs), so I poked my head in to say hello. My OD called me over and asked me how I was doing. I said I was doing fine; then he asked me to show him my smile and he seemed pleasantly surprised at the progress I was making. I asked him if my surgery could be moved up if I continue at my current rate and he told me that he and I will discuss this next week at my adjustment appointment. WooHoo! - I hope he tells me good news!! Best wishes for a painfree and troublefree installation, Fran! ~~ Diane :-)#) > Hi everyone, > I went in for braces a few weeks ago. Guest guest
Hi Diane, Wow, it sounds like you are really progressing! I can't wait to hear how your 9-6 appointment goes. I hope mine goes as well. It is funny that you mention " cuisine freedom " too. I put on a few pounds on vacation, and am doing the protein shake thing 3x/day and then a regular meal. So I probably will do fine with the first few days!! lol I can't believe I am not doing all the ooy gooy stuff right now, but I have to get some discipline back UGH! Funny thing is, my sister got braces the other day, and I didn't even know she was considering it! She greeted me with " get a waterpic!! " lol. So I am looking at getting one before my first session. I hope I have a painfree session too! And good luck on your first adjustment. Will watch for your post. Guest guest
Hi Fran, I have been wondering how you were doing! I have been gone for so long that I've lost track of everyone I was writing with after my own surgery. I had been wondering how everything has been going for you so I was glad to see your name come up! Congrats on getting your braces soon!!! I'm excited for you! I remember how excited I was to get mine on. I actually look forward to going to ortho every month. It's always a let down afterwards because then I have to wait another 4-6 weeks before another appointment. How crazy is that??!! But every step brings you closer to the end! And you will soon be on your way! Do you have any idea yet what they are estimating for time with the braces prior to surgery? I remember that you have a long road ahead of you.... I did the same thing that you did with a large down payment and then interestfree monthly payments. I'll be glad to have the surgery and braces paid off! I don't know anything about building up your back teeth, but it doesn't sound unusual. It sounds like it makes sense! I wish I could tell you something... Anyway, I was just saying to Diane how much I've appreciated how supportive she, and YOU, and everyone was after my surgery this spring. Thank you for all your kind words of support, encouragement, and sympathy (goodness knows I had my moments of feeling horribly sorry for myself!). I will look forward to your post on 9/8 to hear how everything went and how you are doing! Will this be your first time in braces? Are you getting metal or ceramic? Enjoy your holiday weekend! Guest guest
Hi Katja, Great to hear from you! I really think I can understand how you would be excited to go to your OD! You are right. Each visit is one step closer to completion. How true! I am really excited to do this! You are correct. I am estimated to have the preop braces for 2 years, then surgery on the upper and lower, for an overbite, part openbite, and extreme extreme deep bite. That is why they have to do the back and lower tooth build up. My bite is so deep, that my teeth will sheer off the brackets my OD said. I don't really mind about having them built up, I am just anxious to get started, and hope I don't have any more delays! lol After the jaw surgery, I am looking forward to more bracing, then all new crowns for most of my teeth (to make up for the shortness in the front teeth especially - they can pull the molars out a bit with the braces, and have the bone refill as they move, and that is why it will take 2 years). They will move my lower septum with the jaw surgery, but I will also need a functional septoplasty when my jaw is stable enough to do that. So WHY WHY WHY am I looking forward to this???? Heaven knows! But I am! lol Thank you for the welcome back. I hope you have a great weekend too! Hugs, Fran > > Hi everyone, > > I went in for braces a few weeks ago.
