Guest guest
Hey Pam. I know how you feel. I was depressed for about a month. I'm still a little. But, yes my whole face was numb, from under my eyes to my chin. Now, just my bottom lip down. I guess I am a little around my cheeks but all I notice is no feeling in my bottom lip and chin and bottom teeth. It feels funny to brush my teeth. This whole process has really sucked but at almost 2 months, I'm finally feeling better about the whole thing. I just wish my face would look normal. Right now I look worse than I did before the surgery. And I really can't believe that my doctor didn't tell me when he widened my palate it would also widen my nose. I's not noticeable to anyone else but it is to me. I just know one day this will all be a distant memory to me and all of us, and we will be back to normal, we have to be!!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Tonya, so, if you're 2 months now and still no feeling then I guess I can't be too impatient about this (not in my nature). Are you getting alot of tingling on your lower lip at 2 months? I get tingling, just nothing seems to 'break through' to the surface. I had my palate widened 3 years ago by 10 mm. It also widened my nose, but I have a pretty narrow face so it didn't turn out too bad other than I looked a bit different. I had such a small upper bite that having the nice wide jaw was worth it for me. The small jaw made me trip on my tongue when I talked all the time, so I noticed a big difference when I would talk. My tongue also fits in my upper palate now, where it didn't before. I had no numbness from that operation at all. Maybe you are just in some shock about the change in your appearance, rather than you actually looking worse than before. That was my big fear too. When you are through this and have your nice new big smile, this will lift your spirits up alot. This is a very emotional recovery time when you get this kind of thing done to your face. I'm sure it will all be fine soon, Take care, Pam > Hey Pam. I know how you feel. I was depressed for about a month. I'm > still a little. Guest guest
HI Tonya, Have you done photos of before and after and compare them. I was really upset for two reasons, one was the huge difference in the wy I look not only with the swelling, because I am only 12 days post op and I still really can't tell the final result, but because I went from a thin long face to this round short face. I was not happy at all and the other because my husband kept telling me I look so different He is not sure He likes the new me.I cried for two days straight and started to hate and doubt what I had done was the right thing. I procedeed to start comparing the old photos with the new ones, and to be totally honest I know I look better now. I don't look so thin in my face and its a lot more proportion that it was before, but in my mind I kept looking at photos of myself before the operation and could not get use to the new one. I have also spoken to my husband about his feelings and its normal for him to feel the same as me. He fell in love with the way I was before and now He has to get use to seeing me differently. I don't know if any one else has had this problem after surgery, but it has been worrying me. My girldfriend went through a similar operation and was the one to tell me to do the exercise and to ask as many people as I could, since doing that, I have foud that a lot of people agree I look a lot better now, even though I still have swollen cheeks. The doctor also told me its natural to feel this way. Unless you had the surgery done because you hated our looks before its hard to adjust specially the older ou are. Keep your chin up, I know my expectations where huge and I have come down like a bag of potatoes. I am lucky my two boys keep me grounded and they keep telling me how much they love me regardles. > Hey Pam. I know how you feel. I was depressed for about a month. I'm > still a little.
