Do you have any tricks to help it? take a long soak in epsom baths with a lot of salt added. it does wonders for this kind of achiness. When you mentioned pain, I just wanted to share what little I know. I suffer from brain-splitting back pain. It has gotten better since January but flucuates from no pain to mild pain to severe for a day or two. I have been able to hone-in on it to a point but I don't have it fully understood yet. I will explain what I do to cope. 1. Epsom Salts on their own do not help my pain but works for some. I need to make a VERY hot bath and place 2 cups Epsom Salt, 1 Cup Baking Soda and 1/2 Cup Hydrogen Peroxide. I stay in the bath for 15/30 minutes. I don't know why it works, it just does. Also, because I can get nauseus and faint due to autonomic problems, I can take 1/4 tsp sea salt before getting into the bath to alleviate that problem. I didn't realize that Colitis could induce pain. Is this true? Why? Please answer!!! I haven't purchased the book yet as I found out about the SCD diet about 30 min ago. 2. I follow a program that I found at the wrongdiagnosis.com site named " Could it be B12? " It has been a life-saving step in the right direction for me and I know that B12 is involved in digestion. Many people need to take the activated forms of B12 and Folate (See Methylation or Methyl Cycle by Dr Yasko) as some of us can not convert the inactive synthetic forms, Cyanocobalamine and Folic Acid, into the active forms. I take ActiFolate, Jarrow 5000 methylB12 and Country Life AdenosylB12 (aka dibencozide). I had been placed on Cyanocobalamine for 1 year that altered my b12 level from 600 to 1200 with no affect for the better. Once I began taking the active forms, I had an instant positive reaction, lowered pain for instance. If you would like more info, let me know. Thanks, Jacki
Guest guest
As far as a back pain and a colitis or IBS link, I've got one. Last week I went and saw a GI doc I had seen a few years back, and when I mentioned my symptoms getting worse again, and this bad back pain, where my spine even hurts to the touch, she was like, " oh, yeah, you've had sacrolitis and ankylosing spondylitis since 2007. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacroiliitis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ankylosing_spondylitis I was like " WHAT?!? " First I had heard of it, and if they mentioned it before, back in 2007, I must have been in so much gut pain, I didn't even hear it. Anyhow, her lovely advice was to take IB ibuprofen or Advil, whatever. I insisted she at least write down the names of the condition, and when I got home and googled them, I found a direct link to IBS and/or Colitis. Now, why didn't the GI doc make the link?!? Errr. Anyhow, not going back to her, infact next week I am going to see a naturopath doc who speicalizes in anti-inflamation diets who is married to a naturopath who specializes in pain management - fingers are crossed they will be able to help! Maybe they can atleast run some basic tests, that won't cost me $1,000's out of pocket, which was the only option I was given by the GI doc. So, anyhow, it looks to me that when the inflamation in my gut heals, it should also help the inflamation in my back. It's the pits, I know. My back has been hurting so bad again lately, I am thankful I had some leftover pain killer pills from another misinformed doc earlier this year, who insisted my burning side pain must be muscle related. An x-ray done later by another doc, showed a super inflamed colon that has been causing the pain. The SCD diet helps a lot, I am 100% committed, but I am still seeking out reinforcements to accompany it, and hopefully be pain free one day!!! Good luck!
