Guest guest
Hi Jill, I have a question for you. Do you grind your teeth? I am wondering this because I am a very heavy grinder, and I know that can be a real detriment to the healing process with upper surgery especially. I am planning on bringing it up at my next visit, but wanted to have ask you if you think this might have something to do with this. Maybe it isn't related, but a recent redo for someone else here got me thinking about this. Really curious about your opinion. Guest guest
Fran, Yes, I do grind and it took the first surgeon 3 surgeries to remember that Im a grinder. It took this surgeon that did my 4th surgery to figure the problem out right away..He said he would wire me shut for 5 weeks to give the bone, and bone graft time to heal and of course I could not grind during that time..Now, I did find myself waking up bearing down on my teeth but I could not grind. Im hoping that by wiring me shut this amount of time the bone has healed enough that the plate will not break and cause the bone to move up again. I juswt wished the first surgeon who knew I grinded my teeth thought to wire me shut the first time. Hope this helps Jill fran wrote: Hi Jill, I have a question for you. Do you grind your teeth?
