Guest guest
I've been into this sort of stuff for almost 35 yrs. and am dyill mystified by what seems to me to be human nature. An awful lot of folks believe that the medical profession is made up of geniuses who basically know it all and if their doc didn't tell them about it -- or doesn't believe in it, it's not " the way to go " in their minds. You can tell them till you're blue in the face that this is cutting edge medicine that their doc just doesn't yet know but they prefer to brand you as a nut and take the drugs their doc prescribes and suffer the side effects. It's sad enough when it's an adult who, you know, is choosing an inferior quality of life ... but it's particularly sad when you feel pretty certain that a dear child's whole life will be shaped by -- let's admit it - this self-centered parent. In our part of town the parents often had advanced degrees and just didn't want to put in the time and effort it took to deal in a healthy way with these challenges. A counselor who worked at a school for disturbed kids once told me that if any of the parents of " his " kids loved their children 1/10 as much as I loved mine, they wouldn't BE there!!! i.e.: I think Marilyn is right. Most folks are just too lazy to want to put themselves out and change their way of living. Yes, it's easier to believe a fantasy that a magic pill will cure you without hurting you in any way then to actually do the work of getting healthy! Love y'all! It's easier to moan about > how the disease controls their lives rather than > taking control of it.
