My son's doc band is loose-fitting, and it has been working really well for him.

He's been in it 5 weeks now. The band is supposed to hold against the prominent

parts of the skull to encourage growth to go elsewhere, but it is not supposed

to squeeze the head at all. I could be wrong, but I believe that there is an FDA

guideline that specifies bands should not squeeze the head. My son can actually

pull his band slightly forward to cover his eyes. He does this to play

peek-a-boo at every meal : ) Maybe give it a couple weeks and see if your

daughter has improvement in her head shape. If so, it's fine. I don't think you

have anything to worry about though.

From our experiences, this is totally normal. Another member in our FB support

group had the same issues and had it adjusted once but a little looseness was

normal. If you feel like it is moving way too much, don't hesitate to call your

orthotist! Best of Luck!

Thanks! I figured it was normal, but wanted to check with some other people

anyway. Hopefully we will see improvement early on as well.

My son's starband was loose in the back and the orthotist said that it was

supposed to be that way. She hasn't had to shave too much off and he has made

great progress. Good luck with your daughter's band!
