Guest guest
Digestive Wellness (online) has coconut flour. They will be closed for the Jewish holidays but will open soon. I think some here use Tropical Traditions. Be sure nothing is added to the coconut flour. You need a food processor for nut butters. It will kill the blades on a regular blender. I make pecan butter in the food processor with just pecans- processing them until they are mushed and soft at least 5 minutes. I have not made any nut butter with the nut flour, and adding butter may just make it rancid over time. I think pecan butter is well tolerated by most and has lots of calories. Do you use yogurt? Dripping it also makes it more dense and caloric. If you make it out of half and half it gets thick enough that you don't have to drip it. Does he tolerate squash? Baked squash with lots of butter or coconut oil, honey and cinnamon is caloric. Hope he feels better, PJ > > O.K. , My husband is getting very thin, lost another lb. Check out recipes on pecanbread.com and scd.org. Mara

Guest guest
Hi, I just dump the bag of pecans into the processor. You don't need to add anything, just process it for at least 5 minutes. The pecans will get all mushy and buttery on their own. Start with giving him a spoonful and then wait 3 days and if he does ok, add a little more. I keep it in a jar in the fridge and it lasts a long time. I don't eat too much of it because of the calories, but if he tolerates him, let him eat a few spoonfuls a day. You can also bake with it. This is a dessert I love but don't eat much because I don't want to gain weight: Frozen ripe banana topped with dripped whole milk SCD yogurt or half an half SCD yogurt, pecan butter, honey and cinnamon. Pecan butter is good on baked squash as well. It's also good mixed with SCD yogurt, home made cooked apples, coconut oil and cinnamon. Dripping coconut oil over cold yogurt makes a crunchy topping. Hope this works for him! PJ > > > > > > O.K. , My husband is getting very thin, lost another lb. I took the almond pancake away,(it was only one pancake twice a wk.) and the 2 T of almond butter. Guest guest
I find that when I put the pecans in the oven and toast them for just a little bit (say 20 - 30 minutes on 250degress), they turn into a creamy butter much quicker. I use raw pecans or pieces and I think roasting them brings the oils out and you don't have to add anything. Hi, I just dump the bag of pecans into the processor. Guest guest
Coconut flour can be irritating to the gut if it has not healed enough - getting thin can mean he has not healed enough to absorb the foods he is eating. Almond butter would be easier than coconut flour as well as better than almond flour (the texture of the flourt can be irritating). s he eating avocado? It helps for gaining weight. Guest guest
IMO I'd introduce the pecan butter mixed with something. I love pecans, but I think pecan butter tastes awful. , mom to > > > > > > O.K. , My husband is getting very thin, lost another lb.
