I came back from my son's last pediatrician visit steaming mad!

He thinks that us having paid $2000+ out of pocket for the doc band was a rip

off. He cites " studies that show " these helmets may not help. He says our

son's head looks great. I wanted to hit HIM over the head. Does he really

believe that my son's head looks great today because we did nothing and it

MAGICALLY GOT BETTER ON ITS OWN???

Well excuse me, Dr Pediatrician sir, I am the mom and I see my son EVERYDAY and

when I say that the band was responsible for his improved head shape I think I

know what I am talking about better than you, who hasn't seen my son in 2 months

and doesn't even remember anything about him even with the chart in front of

you!

This is the guy that we had to practically shake down for a PT referral for our

son's tort. Finally dragged it out of him when we noticed B was showing

scoliosis possibly related to the tort. This guy constantly dismissed our

assertions that repositioning was not helping B's plagiocephaly. Had to move

heaven and earth to make him write that script for the helmet.

Pediatrician doesn't even comment on the vast improvement of his tort and how my

son doesn't curve his body to the left constantly anymore. Perhaps he didn't

notice?

Well GREAT. Let's see, MAYBE this has something to do with the weekly physical

therapy with a wonderful lady who shows us exercises to strengthen his neck and

back. Or the hours of developmental exercises we've done with him at home.

OR maybe the magical " IT WILL GO AWAY ON ITS OWN " fairy waved her wand and it

all went away in a shower of sparkles and stars that we must have missed because

we were so darn busy ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

It just makes me so mad, his " I TOLD YOU SO " attitude that just dismisses

everything we have done, the sacrifice of time and money we have made to get his

helmet, to get his PT, all of it. I suppose to him, it was all a waste of time

because the " IT WILL GO AWAY ON ITS OWN " fairy took care of it in the end,

didn't she????

Of course she did.

Perhaps he knows another fairy that pay off my mortgage magically too.
