Guest guest
As our family watched what Katrina was doing to N.O. We were doing our own packing to evacutate for Rita.. My daughter was 5yrs old at the time and asked if our house was going to look like the ones on TV.. I told her not to talk like that.. She then said.. IF IT DOES.. can I have a pink room.. Her room was yellow at the time.. My home was spared of the rising flood waters.. I had built at the new elevation requirements. Took 5 days before a boat could get me to the house. But if you draw a perfect square over my daughter's room.. the winds pulled the roof up and her room colapsed.. We were blessed to be able to remain in the home and take in my mother who lost everything in the flood waters, while we repaired that one room.. AND YES> It is a beautiful shade of pink. Guest guest
November will make two years that we have adopted an indoor dog from Animal Rescue,,, We view evacuation completely different when you need to bring a pet along...We love her as part of the family now.. Of course she comes too!!! I love telling the story of 's room... God heard a childs heart.. I would have never agreed to paint it just to paint it...We had a one year old and a two year old (my niece's two kids) when we evacuated.. My daughter sang "Victory in Jesus" each night to put the babies to sleep.. SHE is such an example for me.. A friend of mine, who had taken several of her grandchildren over to Houston (League City) to get them away from the mess in the Biloxi / Gulfport areas ended up spending two nights in the grass at the side of the road because the evacuation was so slow. That's great that you were able to take in family like that. <wry grin> I ended up with a friend's five cats in my spare bedroom because their apartment was a mess, and the hotel her company booked her into wouldn't allow them. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
