Guest guest
well I am now 8 days post op from my second surgery, I have had 2 surgeries in a month. I saw my surgeon today he told me on my second surgery I had 2 screws loose on my left side and one on my right, so he unscrewed me and placed the bone in the correct place and tightened me back up and wired me shut for 8 days which I got unwired today and feel alot better, he said my bite is in the perfect position now. The recovery from the second was pretty much the same as the first, swelling, pain, all of it again. I have a splint in and two rubberbands on right now and that is all. He said I can eat soft foods but honestly I dont think I can, I just cant open my mouth wide enoughand with the splint it makes it worse, but I am very hungry all I have had the past month is thin soups and liquid drinks, I dont see how people can be wired shut for weeks and weeks I could barely make it through 8 days! I am a little worried about my teeth though as far as brushing and things go, I have a baby toothbrush and can brush the fronts of my teeth but cannot brush the tops of them, I havent been able to since before my first surgery which was a month ago, and with the splint in I guess I really cant brush the fronts of my top teeth either, I just dont want lots of cavities. My bite looks alot better now than what it did after my first surgery, If anyone on here doesnt think things look right after surgery go see your surgeon!!! I knew things werent right and while I am upset I had to go in for a second surgery I am glad I did it quickly. My surgeon is good and I dont blame hime for what happened in my situation, I came out of anthesia and opened my mouth and pulled things loose and I was banded shut, but he didnt even realize i did this until the next day when he came to see me. I just wanna get back to normal now and eat some food. I have lost some weight no doubt I am not sure how much but at least 15 lbs i would say, mabye more, havent weighed myself. I also asked him about the plates and If i would have to get them removed and he said that is up to me, he said most people leave them in but If I want them out he said he could do it in his office, but I will propably just leave them in as long as they dont cause any problems. Thanks everyone, this is a great group and I am glad to
