Guest guest
Good Day My experiencs has been that you need to be in a certain size wire before they do the surgery. Next time you go to your OD just ask him how long he figures for you to get into the right wire. I had my braces put on Dec 7th for the upper and the following week for lower. I was ready for surgery (I was in the right thickness of wire) by May but we decided to wait till Sept as there was more staff in the hospital and a bunch of other jazz...plus I wanted to be able to golf for the summer LOL!! Have a great day Tanja > > hey guys just joined and have a question about my treatment, i have an > open bite and need chin advancement aswell and got braces on my upper > teeth 2 years ago and braces on my bottom 6 months ago and i got a > tooth removed to fix my midline about 2 months ago, what im wondering > is roughly how long away does anybody think i am from surgery, my > orthodontist doesnt tell me a thing and i want to know, ive heard > people who have braces on for only a year pre-op, how come my > treatment has taken so long?my teeth seem straight and im a little > uneasy aboput not knowing whats happening >
Guest guest
Hi Beamo, You might contact your OD office and set up a consultation appointment appointment with them. You could say that you are trying to do some long term planning, and are needing a general timeline to schedule other important things in your life. Although you don't have to explain yourself to them, sometimes a nice-ity explanation like that will make asking for such an appointment sound less confrontative to them. I would expect to have a general plan of treatment shared, even if a specific date can be given. Not everyone goes in according to the norm. I was told I will be in my braces for 2 years before surgery. And that is not in stone that in 23 more months I will have surgery either. It really depends on the amount of adjustment my teeth and gums allow. But it is still important to have a general timeline so I can make plans for other things I am wanting to do. Let us know what you find out too! Good luck! Hugs, Fran > > hey guys just joined and have a question about my treatment, i have an > open bite and need chin advancement aswell and got braces on my upper > teeth 2 years ago and braces on my bottom 6 months ago and i got a > tooth removed to fix my midline about 2 months ago, what im wondering > is roughly how long away does anybody think i am from surgery, my > orthodontist doesnt tell me a thing and i want to know, ive heard > people who have braces on for only a year pre-op, how come my > treatment has taken so long?my teeth seem straight and im a little > uneasy aboput not knowing whats happening >
Guest guest
Hello I had braces on my teeth for four years before I had surgery, I had an over bite on my bottom jaw so they had to move my top jaw forward 10mm. I used to see my OD every 3 months for him to check my teeth and tighten and maybe replace brace brackets. After two and half years I used to keep asking the question " when am I going to have my operation " and my OD used to say my teeth our still not in the right position for surgery, I used to get very frustrated because my teeth were straight and healthy. When I finally had the surgery it was well worth the wait, OD will not consider surgery until they our sure that your teeth our in the correct position, if they were to do surgery before your teeth were in the correct position you may suffer with chewing and biting problems after. What I will say to you is be patient and remember " GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT " . Good Luck _____ From: orthognathicsurgerysupport [mailto:orthognathicsurgerysupport ] On Behalf Of beamo_85 Sent: 08 October 2005 22:00 To: orthognathicsurgerysupport Subject: Confused! hey guys just joined and have a question about my treatment, i have an open bite and need chin advancement aswell and got braces on my upper teeth 2 years ago and braces on my bottom 6 months ago and i got a tooth removed to fix my midline about 2 months ago, what im wondering is roughly how long away does anybody think i am from surgery, my orthodontist doesnt tell me a thing and i want to know, ive heard people who have braces on for only a year pre-op, how come my treatment has taken so long?my teeth seem straight and im a little uneasy aboput not knowing whats happening
