I had a blood sugar of 29 today. Am just getting so sick of having

hypoglycemia.

I had eaten at 11AM (ricotta, splenda, PB and NSA Nesquik all mixed

up together). Later went on a 2 mile walk with dh, during which I

bought a Diet Snapple (Peach Tea) and I drank it. Later on I was on

the computer and was feeling hungry...also was noticing that the

computer was looking a bit blurry. Got up and got something to eat.

Started eating when I REALLY got hit with visual disturbances. Got

up again and grabbed about 1/4 of a banana (quick sugar). Was

feeling clammy and getting confused, but got my blood glucose

checker out, checked my sugar and it was 29! Called the doc they

said come immediately, so dh drove me there. About 20 minutes later,

I started feeling normal again...they checked my sugar again and it

was up to 96 (cause I ate).

I am supposed to eat every 2 hours and know this, but didn't today.

The doc I saw today said to just keep up with eating frequently.

Couple of questions, I seem to notice an association my low blood

sugar and when I have aspartame. Any relation there...or a dumb

question? Also I am having a panni next week. I have a pre op appt

on Friday and I do plan to ask the PS this, but in the meantime,

what do I do if they put me on a liquid diet the day before surgery?

And what about addressing the sugar thing *while* in surgery? Anyone

that knows, I would appreciate hearing about this.

Also, the doc said today that if I ever get such a low sugar reading

again, to immediately ingest pure sugar (keep it in the mouth to

absorb it more) and then to immediately follow up with complex

carbs/protien combo. Again, in the event of an emergency, not just

if it drops a little low. Good advice?
